  1. The Russians are making record gains this week especially in the Donetsk region . As for Chavis Yar they have crossed the canal and taken several blocks in the western sector , considerable progress . Where the hell is Ben getting his information from ?

    1. Yes, but taken in the context of the geography of Ukraine it is a pin prick, and the Russians had to squander a considerable number of men and vehicles to achieve it.

      1. The objective isnt to occupy the whole of Ukraine but to safeguard the civilians of the break away republics from Ukrainian shelling so in that context they arent far from achieving one of their goals .If that creates a buffer zone against Nato aggression then thats an added bonus .

  2. getting his information from the same person who said Biden was sharp as a tack .

  3. From that (Kremlin puppet?) Syrskys mouth ….’Russian tanks not only outnumber Ukrainian ones by several orders of magnitude but have grown from 1700 to 3500? Artillery has tripled while Russian armored personnel carriers went from 4500 to 8900? Weren’t they just gaslighting us that Russia is running out of tanks and IFVs, producing only 50 barrels a year, etc.?’

“Here (from Syrsky), for the first time, it appears the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces himself confirms Russia’s opening force was only 100k strong. ” ,,,,,, “the Russian Army is on pace to hit nearly 700,000 (690,000) troops by the end of 2024 ….

Ukraine? ,,, “Ukrainian militant Maxim Skrynnik reports that in some Ukrainian battalions there are no more than 20-30 people left in the ranks and in some companies-no more than five. ” ,,,, “This was reportedly confirmed by Ukraine’s former Deputy Chief of General Staff:”… “There is an acute shortage of military personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In some sections of the front, soldiers are not enough even for defensive actions. Such a statement was made by the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko.”

Russians are using waves of FAB bombs , artillery bombardments and according to the literal head of the entire Ukrainian drone program, Russia at worst is at qualitative parity with Ukraine, but is ahead of them quantitatively six to one https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa6efd121-324f-497f-946e-b20f4ec8d755_1168x547.png ,,, you’d think all of this would negate the need for ‘Russian meat assaults’ ( it’s western propaganda),,,, and lead to Ukraine suffering higher casualties from them being put in pointless out gunned meat grinder defense.

And then there is china —“As for China, I do think they’ll share their AI developments with Russia only because it’s of critical importance for China’s own national security to see what works and what doesn’t on the modern battlefield. China has a very brief window of this war to test their best stuff, to see what can work against NATO in a potential Taiwan fight. Thus, China would be crazy not to give Russia its best AI tricks to test and fine tune so that Chinese experts can gain invaluable experience from real world conditions. There are many indications of China covertly helping Russia already:”

I’ll finish by saying all the forcibly conscripted Ukrainian men must already hate their western supporters ,,,, before they are killed or wounded.

Forced to fight and die in a war they never wanted ,,,, brought about by western pigs for war like Victoria Nuland, Killary Clinton, Biden etc

The neo-libs and neo-cons would fight to the last Ukrainian if they could …..

    1. I follow the tank calculations quite closely. At the beginning of the war Russia had 3,100 tanks in service and about 4,000 tanks in storage that were capable of being refurbished. There were about 7,000 tanks in storage, but a significant number were beyond repair and more suited for spare parts. Russia has lost about 2,000 tanks and has bought a similar number out of storage and refurbished them. They have also built new tanks, but their annual manufacturing capacity is in the range of 200 or so new tanks.

So Russia still has 3,100 tanks in service, but a now significant number are early T62’s and even some T55’s. These are much more vulnerable to anti tank missiles and drones since they have solid steel armour instead of spaced armour. Their sighting and tragetting systems come from the 1970’s. A hit will kill the crew.

In short, an armoured force of this nature will not be suitable for a major breakthrough, they are more useful in defence operating from behind earthen revetments.

This is all borne out by current operations. Russia has not been able to sustain major advances. Small localised advances, yes, but nothing like a major breakout.

      1. The Putinista’s on here should pay attention to this – Wayne clearly knows what is he is taking about and as Ben does he probably also has some military experience.

        1. Hello Mr Bidenista, or maybe Kamala is ta. Or maybe just settle for neoconista? Don’t you just love labels, all the precision of a shotgun blast.

  4. “In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act,” said George Orwell. Sadly, we live in these times. It is equally true that, in a time of genocide, not telling the truth is the most contemptible of all acts.

Adhering strictly to commenting only on the crimes and aggression of the ‘other side’.
Displaying a cowardly yellow streak a mile wide, Ben Morgan, former Officer in the NZDF and the TDBs Military Blogger keeps up his strict self censorship of any mention of the genocide in Gaza being perpetrated by ‘our side’.

  5. Thanks Ben
The Ukraine tactic appears to run along similar lines to the ‘rope a dope’ strategy adopted by Ali against Foreman: Let the opponent punch himself out energy in the early rounds while smothering and deflecting his blows as much as possible. Then strike back hard when he’s weak and vulnerable.

  6. Right, so the only army in a position to take advantage of Russia’s culmination…. is a new Russian offensive.

Aside from flashy DOD-style pot shots at random targets like Murmansk, to create news stories and “break morale”, of course.

INLA accused of receiving Russian State ‘Dark Money’ amid Republican support for war in Ukraine
The INLA are just one of the many groups supposedly supported by the Russian Government in its efforts to destabilise the west

    Olivia Peden, John Toner
The INLA have been suspected of receiving ‘dark money’ from the Russian State.
The paramilitary group has had an upsurge in activity over the summer, including an attack on a homeless charity last month.

A car was driven into the shutters of west Belfast’s Welcome Centre before being set alight.

Shortly after the incident a mural which threatened to shoot any workmen that tried to repair the damage appeared.

The INLA, who were previously alleged of the murders of Jim ‘JD’ Donegan and Sean fox in recent years, have been accused of openly supporting Vladimir Putin’s warmongering regime.

Public and vocal support of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has come from members of the IRSP, the political wing of the INLA.

This week, Continuity IRA boss John Connolly was seen supporting Russia from the British embassy in Dublin. He’s described Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as ‘a proxy war that is funded by NATO’.

The association between Republicanism and Russia goes back to during the Irish Civil war, when the Soviets were supportive of Republicans’ efforts to establish an independent republic.

The Soviet Union continued to support the IRA during the troubles, providing weaponry and training.

In March 2022, several Russian diplomats were expelled from Ireland after they were found holding meetings with both Republican Dissidents and Loyalist Paramilitaries.

  8. Seems that Russia is accelerating the offensive because in many places their opponents are the guys press ganged off the street and fired into the front line a fortnight later.

Russias problem is now where to stop? Going outside of Novorussia is a cost they don’t want.
