Yesterday I spoke with journalist and political commentator Chris Trotter about the things he thinks we need to preserve in our way of life and those we need to change.

NZ is in an unbreakable love hate relationship with China. Like a child we are dependent on China for economic growth. We may be unhappy about a parent that is too dominant and punitive on occasions. But like most children we don’t want to run away because there is no alternative but the cold outside. 

While for some New Zealanders being stopped by police from driving their Audi or Mercedes on route to their holiday home is their biggest problem, in South Auckland other New Zealanders are living with 10 people in a 3 bedroom house and wondering how long the supermarket line will be today.
