  1. Despite China’s declarations of No First Use, NFU – in the event of armed conflict with the US, PLA strategy allows a nuclear response to any attack on Mainland China, especially if modern conventional weapons that approach the destructive power of nuclear weapons are used.
    They may not have written it down, but the Pentagon are quite likely to have the same nuclear response strategy to a conventional missile attack on Mainland USA.

    Nuclear powered submarines are virtually undetectable while at sea, they are only vulnerable when they are in port. A major incentive for the US to offshore their nuclear armed and powered subamarine fleet to Austraiian ports.

    Australia refuses to take to take heed of the lessons of the Ukraine/Russo war.

    In this time of shifting global strategic alliances, there are fewer countries willing to risk Australia’s level of sychophancy to the US.

  2. If they’re sending the Virginia class then yes, it will be nuclear armed. They don’t have a hope of getting more than one or two Tomahawks through Chinese air defences if they kick their race war against the Chinese into high gear, so to cause maximum casualties they’ll be using the nuclear armed variant that they pretended to retire (before abrogating the treaty that would validate that).

    Of course US imperialism existed way before The Monroe Doctrine was formulated; Known as ‘Manifest Destiny’, the US policy to conquer as much of the American continent as possible, only checked in the North by the British Empire in Canada, and in the South by the Mexican Republic.
