Aucklanders: we need you this Thursday – First Union + NZCTU

The ACT Party’s Employment Relations Amendment Bill is a direct attack on workers’ rights. It would let employers replace real jobs with sham contracting, pay below the minimum wage, strip sick leave and holidays, and shut workers out of workplace justice. This is the normalisation of a “fire-at-will” culture, and it must be stopped.
Aucklanders: we need you this Thursday.
Join unions in a public protest outside Minister Brooke van Velden’s electorate office to show this Government we won’t accept laws that take rights away while rewarding gig-economy employers.
If this Bill passes, bosses could decide what “serious misconduct” means, deny fair process, and push workers out of unions and into insecure contracting.
Rights won over generations are at risk now. If it doesn’t affect you today, it could tomorrow.
WHEN: Thursday 5 February, 11am–12pm
WHERE: 35 St Johns Road, St Johns, Auckland
Bring a sign, bring a friend, and spread the word. Secure jobs and fair treatment should be the minimum in Aotearoa, not a privilege.
