An anti-war meeting in Auckland that was protested against by pro-Israel/pro-American Iranians

I’ve never been to an anti-War meeting that was protested outside by pro-war protestors!
The diaspora of Iran is no monolith, there are those who hate the Theocracy so much that they perversely see Israel and Trump as saviours.
I understand that.
If you have been given from your homeland, have had friends and family abused, murdered, tortured – you would detest the Theocracy with a passion that overwhelms logic.
It ain’t for me to judge, but the No War public meeting put on last night on at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall had a stellar line up of speakers that demanded attention, no matter the huge number of angry Iranians hurling shouts outside it.
Trump and Netanyahu don’t care about you, they are only interested in manipulating your righteous anger at the Theocracy!
I pitied the Iranian pro-War protestors.
Our values of anti-war are too sacred to put aside for the blind rage panic of on Orange fascist being led by a man who has spent 40 years claiming Iran was about to get a bomb.
This is an illegal war, I hate war and I will go and listen to a room of good people rather than be intimidated by pro-war counter protestors!
Arman Askarany, an Iranian Kiwi Lawyer was incredible. His empathy and arguments of kindness were a cool salve to the nonsense outside the Hall.
Minto was brilliant as always, Marama Davidson demanded justice for everyone being hurt, Phil Twyford was funny and insightful and righteous and Sandra Grey from the NZCTU was amazing.
I have not heard Sandra speak before and I was deeply impressed with her call to class.
It seemed obscene that this anti-war public meeting…

…was a source of any protest.
Regardless of the appalling human rights abuses by the Theocracy, launching an illegal war because Netanyahu has tricked Trump into it is no solution.
You don’t bomb for peace.
I marched against the Iraq War. I’ll march against this war.
I despise war.
It is us as a species at our worst.
This country has a noble history of pacifism and we must use our international platform to call for peace, diplomacy and the denouncement of civilian casualties.
We have a voice, but this Government refuses to speak.
They stain our collective mana with their silence and weasel words.
