  1. The lower South Island especially around the Queenstown, Crown Range, Wanaka areas will be a ‘dust bowl’ like “death valley’ in California as there is (quote) ‘sparse plant cover’.

Quote; ” The clear, dry air and sparse plant cover allow sunlight to heat the desert surface.”

Goodbye Queenstown Crown Range, Wanaka with your multi-million dollar residential properties.

    1. The machiavelli in me doesn’t believe that the poor in Auckland being moved inland towards the poor regions of central north island by market forces is entirely unwanted. Dealing with a permanent 20% reduction in the GDP we can handle with a Universal Basic Income. Crop failure on the other hand, modern food production has never dealt with that. It’s all far to late for to harden against coastal irrosion. May as well just move Auckland city inland and send the police in on anyone who gets lippy.
