GenX need to help Millennials & GenZ win 2026 election for New Zealand against Old Zealand

In the battle between Old Zealand and New Zealand in the 2026 election, Gen Xers are going to be the difference.

Look at the demographics.

Estimation for 2025 (or more recent)

If similar age proportions hold, then:

    • If 60+ voters are ~28-30% of the voter roll, and

    • Under-40 voters are ~35%,

then in a total roll of ~3.6 million enrolled voters (approx current size), you’d expect:

    • 60+ voters ≈ ≈ 1.0 to 1.1 million

    • 18-40 voters ≈ ≈ 1.25 million

Polling data tells us that you are more likely to be a reactionary redneck if you are over 60 (and male) and are far more likely to vote Left if you are 18-40 and female.

There are around 1.3million Kiwis aged between 40 and 60, that is Gen X, we are the ones who are going to be the decider in this election.

As a generation, do we want to side with the rednecks of Old Zealand or support New Zealand?

Thanks to our middle class woke activists during the social media cancel culture Lynch mobs, we drove many young men into the arms of the reactionary right, we need to show those men that there is a place on the Left for them.

Old Zealand trades in the spite and malice of culture war hate while in lockstep with the Billionaire class, the Banks, the speculators and the polluters, isn’t it time to break the power of these pricks?

It’s time for Gen X to step up to help Millennials and Gen Z win the 2026 Election.

  1. Please step up Gen X&Z and vote to help rid us of this terrible CoC scourge. I may be a boomer in age but I certainly don’t think like one. I too am sick of the “stupid, brain-dead”, stuck in their bitter and twisted mind-sets and just going through the motions. If they can’t do better for OUR COUNTRY then it would be kinder if they either didn’t vote or ‘moved on’. We owe our descendants a decent living standard and a much fair society. So again, Left, wake up. You need to ‘sell’ M J Savage type changes that eliminate corruption, lies, manipulation etc. and bring back hope with meaningful policies that will actually improve the lives of the many who are currently being kicked about and going down hill fast. You can put NZ on a new significant prosperity path but you need to be brave and think outside the square. Actions speak louder than words.

  3. Gen-X didn’t leave because we were angry. The Left left and we were ignored, then blamed and then insulted.
    We are in that void between consideration and afterthought and the left is now no longer what it was.

    But we noticed so its all our fault?

    Sorry but appeals for support without substance or consideration won’t cut the mustard these days.

  4. A government of realistics or one of dreamers . We have a choice in 2026 to lock in the advances made jn the last 2 years or go back to high inflation and a blotted public service.
