  1. I glanced at Blackland (not an auspicious name) article and chart. I must have overlooked the mention of the horrific killing of 50 people by a foreign gunman which was a major event this year with many local responses both legal and emotional, and the international ones were huge also. It was bigger than CGT which we knew was more of a smoothing exercise, and probably got hooked up on the mechanical economist purists conviction that it should apply to all house sales, including personal homes, while those on the side of practicality and fairness as well as voter approval, wanted personal homes out. It wasn’t going to magically solve anything, but would slow inflationary housing prices, and the government be taxing those wealth creators for part of their unearned profits.
