While the nightmare of Trump’s Orange Fascism gripped us all in horror, many things happened yesterday and it would be wrong to allow the end of America to eclipse those things.
4.8% Unemployment
Our Unemployment continues to rise, it didn’t hit 5% because so many young people have now dropped out of the labour market altogether.
We now have 148000 unemployed and this is the Government’s message to the BottomFeeders
National’s FamilyBoost programmes are a total farce that isn’t helping anyone:
The decision to gut public spending to pay for tax cuts and create tax loop holes for their donor class are causing social carnage amongst the bottom feeders but National only care about those flying first class.

New Roy Morgan Poll NZ Right Wing meltdown
While America melted down the latest Roy Morgan Poll shows the hard right Government in NZ has taken a huge gut punch and Labour, Greens and Māori Party would have enough to form a Government.
National have plunged, ACT have dropped and NZF has dropped as the country struggles with a triple dip recession, rising unemployment and a never ending crusade by this Government to start a race war.
The Left have gained with male voters and if the Wellington Woke can just not start a culture war on any penis that doesn’t identify as non-binary, we could win in 2026.
TVNZ cuts
While the American nightmare was being broadcast, TVN decided to announce a vicious cost cutting that will see 50 jobs slashed. To release this on the day of the US Election is just another example of why the feckless TVNZ Board must all be sacked. Their privilege and disdain for doing actual debate (the way The Working Group did with the Treaty Debate) is why they are in the space they are.
Waitangi Tribunal Race War
ACT have Brough forward their race war inducing Treaty Principles Bill, a piece of legislation that the Waitangi Tribunal described as, “worst, most comprehensive breach of the Treaty/te Tiriti in modern times”.
This is a purposeful attempt to dog whistle up the racism of Trump to pretend this is a legitimate response to our constitutional settings.
It is going to start race conflict which is exactly what the angry redneck reactionary right want.
Netanyahu sacks Defence Minister
While no one was watching Netanyahu sacked his Defence Minister, perhaps the only restraint that Netanyahu had. With all break peddles for decency removed, expect the ethnic cleansing war crime being committed by Israel to explode dramatically towards full blown genocide, especially with Trump in Office.

This world is going to descend to worse hell rapidly with the fat fuck as President again. He does not “believe” in Climate Change despite the recent flood devastation caused by Gulf warming–so the planet is going to deteriorate faster. Women, migrants, brown and black people–basically anyone non MAGA is now in great danger in the USA. My immediate thought was US women should go on indefinite strike regarding sexual activity with men, the MAGAs will move to ban contraception too.
It is looking bad all round, NZ farmers can forget about exporting to the States, Gaza is going be totally pounded into rubble and the remaining population slaughtered and starved, Ukraine will be cut adrift, Authoritarians the world over are celebrating.
So, in NZ practical terms…keep some cash on hand and a “go bag” of vital documents etc. and a basic survival kit. Help out in your community if you do not already, with Pataka Kai, sharing transport, child care, animal care, whatever, join a union if in paid work, or any positive group where you can network with others.

Unemployment did not reach 5% because of the 10000 a month leaving NZ and the crash in the numbers coming to nz .Imagine if those 120k were still here that would be 250k unemployed .The failing economy is starting to bite here in the rural area where I live with some businesses walking a very thin line .
See why they are bringing the treaty bill foward they need a smoke screen to hide the dire straights we are in .No boats Willis will have to do some very creative accounting to hide the mess we are in .Full steam ahead with the race war and hope no one notices we are back on track to the bottom .

I tend to use Guy Fawkes as an indicator of wealth in my working class area. Usually, the 2 nights before and the night after are as bad as the night itself. The next 2 weeks will be interesting.
In the past people have claimed cost of living expenses were making it difficult to put food on the table but round here, it’s just a shame they can’t eat fireworks. In other words, for the last 30 years there has never been a peaceful aftermath to 5th. Nov. It drags on for 2 weeks.
Last night, I expected NOISE. We had about 5 minutes worth at 8.30 and then it was dead quiet. None this morning.
That indicates to me that people are finally feeling they do not have money for idiots to waste on fireworks.

Further, TVNZ needs to be de-corporatised and turned back into a public service body, with no obligation to turn a profit for shareholders;
