I believe we simply didn’t appreciate what a unique situation the influx of 501s into NZ would mean for our domestic criminal culture.
TDB has been banging this drum for almost a decade now.
Part of the problem was that our politicians and right wing crime porn agitators had convinced us that NZ’s domestic crime scene was so terrible, when that really wasn’t the case at all.
Black Power and the Mongrel Mob grew out of the kids abused in State care, it is estimated that 80% of members were abused in State care.
The alpha gangs, the Head Hunters, The Hells Angels and the KCs controlled the airport and the ports and would bring in pseudoephedrine from Triad connections to cook into meth which the bikie gangs would transfer around the country.
This changed to fully made meth in the early 2000s but the level was still pretty small fry and the old school rules between the gangs stood which kept violence to a minimum.
The Killer Bees tried to break those rules as they sourced meth directly and ended up with all the other gangs turning evidence on them and ending their attempt at dominance.
These rules all changed once the 501s turned up.
Despite our politicians and right-wing agitators screaming about ‘da gangs’, we simply weren’t in the same league of uber violence and criminal sophistication of the Australian underworld.
The Australian underworld dealt directly with South American Cartels and they operate at a counter intelligence level so the average Australian organised crime member was a whole other level than our domestic gangs.
The moment the 501s turned up and realised how soft our gangs were until comparison to how they operated, they immediately set about taking over local gangs, using extreme violence and setting up their own links via the Cartels to source meth.
What we have seen ever since, all the violence the shootings and the killings has been the 501 syndicates taking over the local meth scene.
In America a point of meth sells for $5, in NZ it sells for $100.
The 501 syndicates can source meth from the cartels that is purer and cheaper and that is why we have seen an explosion of meth in our water testing.
National believe that by banning gang patches, they have made the issue disappear when all it has done is make it invisible.
What comes next is the new crime wave which you won’t see.
Because the 501 syndicates operate with criminal sophistication, their new play is influencing all other gangs they interact with…
…what we will see now is active infiltration to the Police, Customs and the Judiciary as the syndicates use vast meth profits to bribe officials or blackmail them.
We will see Detectives who become compromised and blackmailed for intelligence, we will see tech surveillance used and we will see a never ending supply of cheap meth…
