I get why National are doing this, they love unquestioning propaganda, but why would Stuff damage their credibility as a Fourth Estate Guard dog for some few measly bucks?
The Advertising Standards Wonks concede that if an advertorial looks like an actual news article, then there is a breach of standards, which this most surely does, but beyond the slap on the wrist, why would Stuff risk their reputation for a few thousand bucks in adverting from the Government?
The fact Stuff have done it so audaciously suggests real economic pain inside Stuff, nothing screams industry on its last legs than taking a few thousand from the Government to promote propaganda.
Before this I would have said Stuff were solid for at least a year, after this however I’d say there’s a good chance the Company is in such dire financial straights that there is some type of sale looming.
If Stuff are prepared to trash their own reputation for a few measly thousand, that shows they are desperate as fuck.

It’s clearly labeled as sponsored or whatever other words they use to describe paid content so I never click on them. You can’t run a business without cash flow and if people can’t discern between propaganda and truth on a website they have bigger problems than worrying about the National Party supporting one of their media mates.
