It’s happening – Ruth Richardson accepts Nicola Willis debate challenge
After initially turning down a challenge from Finance Minister Nicola Willis to “come out of the shadows” and debate her directly, Ruth Richardson has changed her tune.
A debate could be on the cards as soon as next week, after the release of the half yearly economic fiscal update (HYEFU).
The Taxpayers’ Union has been planning an attack campaign on Willis from the right, asserting that she is increasing spending and debt despite pledging to fix the books.
The two biggest economic and social vandals arguing over who can mutilate the State most?
It’s Bitter nightshade vs Poison Hemlock.
This is what the Taxpayers’ Fake Union thinks is a debate, it’s the intellectual equivalence of David Seymour calling out his own name during orgasm!
The Taxpayers’ Union are a front group for alt right extremists and corporate interests, their capacity to manipulate the petty bigotries of muddle Nu Zilind are almost supernatural.
This friendly fire strategy to attack Nicola Willis is driven by one desire, and one desire only, to enable ACT to cannibalise National vote in the new highly polarised political media landscape shaped by social media hate algorithms.
It’s likely to work, but when National + ACT are a whisker of being the majority without NZF, it actually plays directly into Winston’s hands.
Of course Nicola Willis is blowing the debt, the Left have been pointing this out from the beginning, the difference between Labour’s blow out and National’s is that Labour was dealing with a once in a century pandemic where as National are borrowing for tax cuts, $300million for Tobacco, $200million for oil and gas and giving Landlords a helping hand!
National are borrowing more for their donors interests WHILE underfunding public services but that won’t be the debate the Taxpayers’ Fake Union will be directing, they want more cuts and steeper cuts.
This fake debate by the Taxpayers’ Fake Union must be protested with a militancy and attitude that shows these right wing rich pricks the level of contempt we hold them in!
These two are responsible for the deepest social carnage we’ve ever experienced and what they are doing to our country demands a protest of enormous scale.
They shouldn’t be allowed too cosplay debate while burning the nation to the ground.

This ‘debate’ between One Former National finance minister and One current National finance minister reeks of a Set Up much like a Game Show.
I still recall Richardson supposedly boasting to someone(if there really was someone on the other end of the phone) on the phone pre her Budget as being the “Mother of All Budgets”. My Chartered Accountant Father and I looked at each other and shook our heads. We both couldn’t believe an adult would say such a thing.
But Richardson had done a Copy and Paste of Saddam Hussein’s Mother All Wars. And look where that took Iraq and him. He boasted about having a War and in the long run it destroyed him and many others. He became corrupt and evil and “out of control until Karma finally caught up with him.
Like Rogernomics Ruth Richardson did a Hell of alot of long-term damage to NZ and NZers. We have had many decades of Financial Mis-management by various finance ministers from the National Party Cloth that have still ongoing damage to NZers to this day eg Think Big, Ruthanasia and now Un-delivering Willis.
I think Richardson will tell Willis she hasn’t done enough damage and needs to continue inflicting more damage(aka cuts) and control on the masses because the peasants should never be allowed to self-determine any aspect of their lives whether in Health, Education, Living, Protection etc .etc.etc
So we may as well see a Game-show like say It’s In the Bag presented by Selwyn Toogood in this ‘debate’. In other words it will be “It’s Either the Money or the Bag”.
But will this debate help those low income NZers that Luxon calls Bottom Feeders? I don’t think so. I mean even today we are told the minimum wage is going up but it isn’t keeping up with the Cost of Living Crisis, Inflation(both Onshore and Imported). It will be giving with one hand and taking back more so with the other.
I think overall NZers are getting fed up to the back-teeth with Self-Serving politicians like Willis etc who pretend they know NZers on low incomes are ‘having a tough time’ and nek minute are seen at the opening of an IKEA store.
The debate is about rehabilitating Willis’s image
She has made too many bad decisions
She will be portrayed as the hero defending New Zealand and its people
Richardson will demand more cuts and state that the bad decisions do not go far enough
She will be the heel attacking the noble defender
