Gaza‘s death, injury and sickness totals continue to rise

Since dawn, shelling by Israeli tanks and other gunfire has continued over almost the whole of Gaza. Six more people have been killed and 15 more wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved five more bodies from underneath bomb-damaged property, Together with updates provided by the committee responsible for following up on reports of missing persons, the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, amounts to at least 70,354. The total wounded is now at least 171,030. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 89 and, that of those injured, is more than 216. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

On 3 December, reports of airstrikes, shelling and gunfire continued in North Gaza’s Beit Lahiya area, east of Gaza City, east of Deir al Balah, east and south-east of Khan Younis, as well as north and north-east of Rafah City. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, six people were killed and 16 injured.
