The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

What political chess might have prevented WW2 and Hitler going to excess. even if war could not have been prevented. Germany was a great power and should have had the nous by then to restrain and regroup without horrible war. Moving within political parameters if the ego can be controlled, good men and women can be great. And once having got to a path, finding other good people to continue would be good. The staying on till one drops is iikely to end badly.
This is interesting, on Hindenburg’s son. (Also read *Otto von Bismarck and the efforts of welfare introduction to ensure that socialism was kept at bay.)

Allegations that President Hindenburg appointed Hitler chancellor because of pressure from Oskar has never been conclusively established. Nevertheless, Franz von Papen, who had served as chancellor until he was supplanted by Schleicher in December 1932, was negotiating behind Hitler’s back to become chancellor again of a presidential government, which would rule by decree under Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution. He almost certainly would have succeeded[citation needed] except for the influence of Oskar on his father. Other factors are important, but, in the view of Klaus Fischer, without Oskar and State Secretary Meissner’s behind-the-scenes influence Papen would have had a much tougher time convincing President Hindenburg to invite “that Bohemian corporal” and the Nazi Party to form a government at all..

How come they can go to space but they can’t stop my socks smelling said Homer in the Simpsons – dumb and dopey.

Invasive gold clams were first confirmed in Aotearoa-New Zealand in May 2023 at Lake Karāpiro, and by the end of that year had been visually identified throughout much of the Waikato River downstream of Lake Maraetai. They were recently detected in Lake Rotomanu, Taranaki…
Well I feel just the same as Homer reading about the new troublesome shellfish or whatever, that only came here in 2023 and is alarming everyone. How do we get these things? Can’t we limit what comes into NZAO? I answer my own question – No, we are not good at doing that. Perhaps we should watch what the USA does, they are not a welcoming country any more. Let’s try some of their methods; and hornets – is there a net to catch them? Perhaps if we grow, make, our own food; possibly they come in fresh food imports. That could be a good idea, I wonder who would listen to that theory and implement it?
(Note I bought a cooked product – a cheesecake from a supermarket fridge, quite low priced and it was made in Germany.)
I suppose it all goes back to Ricardo’s theory. We are still testing the theory, and the tests are becoming more onerous on people who don’t benefit from macroeconomics or whatever the official name is. But the idea is to do one thing well, and other things you import. But what about the children I cry!
Ricardo’s comparative advantage: an inconsistent theory (being sold to you since 1817: refreshed, shined, ever carrying forward the same old slam-bam-thankyou-mam)
