Trump inherited an amazing economy thanks to Obama. He squandered that over Covid and ended up simply giving the very rich enormous tax cuts, and it was the sugar high of those Tax Cuts that the poor remember.
America is so freakishly free market hollow that there are no safety nets, instead of a functioning Welfare State, the American Military Industrial Complex subsidies petrol and manufactured mass food.
Our petrol prices are twice that of Americans, can you imagine the freak out if Americans had to pay our prices?
When Covid hit and strangled supply chains, inflation exploded. THAT is what Americans remember.
Simply put, Donald Trump owes his reelection to inflation and to the fact that the Biden administration did little to address the problem in a way that helped working-class families.

Because the Left refused to rebuild after Covid to acknowledge the universal sacrifice all had made, the Left just rebuilt the old inequalities and because so many Americans live in poverty, that burnt them twice as bad.
There are 650 000 homeless Americans, 120 000 of those are kids, 40% of the entire country lives month to month knowing 1 financial crisis will make them homeless.

Kamala is kidding herself and so must be the advisors that put her up to this. They are spooked over Mamdani’s success so far, and fair bricking themselves over the prospect of AOC running a Bernie backed Presidential campaign.
The Democrats need urgent change away from the money men and back to the people-the kind of people who out of desperation voted Trump. Harris no way, and there will be more duds to come till the Dems face reality.

Like you said people don’t care about Temple politics. She lost not because of that but because Biden didn’t step down after a year and there was no proper contest for who would run. Her short gifted run was counter to the usual democratic process. She lost because of the genocide she did not take a stand against. She lost because of the in your face privileges of the dems and the stupid waste of money on celebrities at conventions. Any meaningful policies just looked like sugar coating the same old pill of haves and have nots. She should have listened to Bernie and gone all the way in that direction. People felt that there would be no change to the establishment , with Trump they knew he would blow up the establishment. Wow, they got that. They voted for it.
It would be a dream scenario for those on the right to have Kamela as the Democrat nomination, but the Democrats are not stupid. Perhaps this time they’ll have a democratic (the irony of the term) selection process, rather than be appointed by ‘who the hell thought she was a good idea’.
Whoever they choose, they’ll have to be prepared to actually talk to Joe Rogan for a few hours, something the democrats were too terrified of with Kamela.

Kamala Harris lost because she was widely viewed as a continuation of Status Quo Joe. She lost because she made no serious effort to show distinctly different policies to those of S.Q. Joe.
Harris, like Hilary before her, is unfortunately a great example of a has been who was resoundingly rejected by voters and does not seem to have got the memo.
It is terrible to have to say this, and it says much about how awful the current edition of the Democrats really is, but if Harris stands again then the Democrats deserve the hiding that is coming.
The best thing Kamala can do is go back to the public sector, or retire from politics altogether.
Harris lost because Trump who also lost magically won
Now is a learning opportunity for the Dems – they need Bernie & AOC energy – but they always did.
Whether Trump allows another election though, is anybody’s guess. The Mad King is wrecking the Wight House & no Jaimie Lannister in sight.
Harris still leads in a number of polls for the next democratic candidate. The only other serious contenders are a rich boy from a failed state (Newsom) or an obese billionaire (pritzker) then Harris is not a bad choice.
Of course they can exhume Hillary from the crypt……
