Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. The list of military related stuff for our resident milblogger and AUKUS Hawk to ignore, because it makes our alignment with the US look like a very bad idea, grows longer every week.
Gaza, Venezuela, oil deals with Russia, threatening everyone else with oil deals with Russia, plus threats to wage an internal war against an enemy that don’t wear uniforms, we can now add to the list of bad military related shit for our pro-US milblogger to ignore, the resumption of nuclear weapons testing.
To ingratiate themselves with the global hegemon, the Aussies have already agreed to paint a huge target on their country by hosting the US nuclear submarine fleet, I wouldn’t be surprised if they rolled over to let the Yanks test their nuclear weapons there as well.

President Trump has directed the Pentagon to resume testing nuclear weapons for the first time since 1992. He made the announcement just before meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade relations. Dr. Ira Helfand, former president of Physicians for Social Responsibility and a leading campaigner against nuclear proliferation, says the White House needs to “clarify” Trump’s intentions, and urges countries to recommit to nuclear disarmament.

“This idea is dismissed sometimes as being unrealistic. I think what’s unrealistic is the belief that we can continue to maintain these enormous nuclear arsenals and expect that nothing is going to go wrong,” says Helfand. “Our luck is going to run out at some point.”

Trump’s announcement comes just months before the last major nuclear arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia — the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START — expires in February 2026.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: …..“Because of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately,” Trump wrote.
AMY GOODMAN: It’s unclear what President Trump was referring to. Russia and China have not tested a nuclear weapon in decades; North Korea last tested one in 2017…..

    Yay war!
Good for China, good for the US, they have a gentleman’s agreement not to strike each other’s mainland. Too bad for the rest of us.

ICE raids are only half the story.

    Fascism always benefits some people
Why do American employers hate undocumented migrant workers?
    Because they love slavery more!
US employers hate undocumented migrant workers because if they don’t like their employment conditions they just up and leave to go to another employer.
Inboth  the New Zealand and US system documented temporary migrant workers are bound to one employer.
Both here in NZ and the US cases of documented migrant workers being enslaved by their employer have been prosecuted.
The use of subcontractors to supply and have control over the migrant workforce make abuse more likely, allowing plausible deniability by employers.
As well as cracking down on undocumented migrant workers with the ICE raids, the Trump administration has repealed antislavery protections.
There were an estimated 11 million undocumented workers in the U.S. as of 2022, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
In the US as in New Zealand temporarary migrant workers support a significant part of the productive econony.
The New Zealand economy relies on 300,000 workers are on temporary migrant work visas tied to one employer.
In the US 2022 count only 438,198 temporary workers are on H-1B, H-2A temporarry work visas.
American employers want the New Zealand system to apply to the 11 million undocumented workers with even less protections against abuse, exploitation and yes, Slavery.

  3. Always wanting men to think Logically

Think with your heart, rather; our fathers in fear rationed logic then buried it — so leave the bones there
And when in your heart you step forward with poverty of spirit, then you may freely think with your mind

Now is the time to watch out for Chilean needle grass.
…“Chilean needle grass can be a real issue for landowners once it gets onto their land. It has a sharp seed head that causes problems for stock as it can pierce an animal’s eyes and skin. The seeds spread easily on contaminated machinery, vehicles, feed and stock, so we’re asking people to be vigilant and keep an eye out,” she says.
To prevent spread, landowners should only allow clean vehicles and machinery on to their property, and make sure any stock or feed brought onto the farm have not come from an infested property.

Chilean needle grass grows well in dry, hard, hill country areas with light soil, heavily grazed pasture and bare ground where there’s less competition from desirable pasture plants. In Hawke’s Bay, Chilean needle grass is found on approximately 200 properties, covering around 600 hectares…

The Regional Council’s Biosecurity Team Leader, Alice McNatty, says its purple seed head is easy to spot this month, before it turns a straw colour in December.
“November and December is the best times of year to make sure this pest plant isn’t growing. Checking to see if there are any distinctive purple or straw-coloured seed heads is the easiest it will be all year, because the head is visible in spring and early summer making the plant easier to distinguish from other grasses,” she says…

“If anyone has concerns that the plant has got onto their land, the Regional Council can follow up with a visit to their property and advise on a plan and control methods,” says Ms McNatty.
