Kapa-Kingi’s & Doc Ferris put ego before waka and suicide bomb Te Pati Māori leadership – is it all over?

Jesus wept – this is insane…

Supporters and MPs fume as Te Pāti Māori tries suspending MP, who threatens legal action

…there is going to be an attack on te Pati Māori Leadership.

After all the hope that te Pati Māori + Greens + Labour could usher in the most progressive Government since Michael Savage, the egos of Doc and the Kapa-Kingi clan have strapped suicide bomber vests on and attacked the Leadership waka.

John Tamihere has many sins, but it has been his leadership that has built te Pati Māori into what it is and it was only his executive skills that could see them turn from a Party of activists into a stable component of any Government that could replace this terrible Government.

The issues of overspending and abusing Parliamentary staff raised against the Kapa-Kingi’s are legitimate and this would never have happened if Eru hadn’t toxically attacked the leadership and if Doc’s weird ‘Māori only’ sectarianism hadn’t emerged.

That they are combining to sack the Leadership is utter madness and toxic egos out of control.

The only winners here are hate blog The Centrist, Winston Peters, Sean Plunkett, Hobsons Pledge, David Seymour, the Taxpayers’ Union, The Atlas Network, Don Brash and Mike Hosking.

Doc and the Kapa-Kingi’s have handed so much political ammunition to the Right by highlighting the instability of the Party in such a crushing way that I don’t see how they can come back if the Leadership is actually toppled, and if Doc and the Kapa-Kingi’s succeed in removing the Leadership, I don’t think Labour has any option other than ruling them out.

The reset was supposed to show te Pati Māori had outgrown their activist opposition routine and could be trusted to uphold a new Government to replace this terrible one, the egos that have been let loose here however make that stability a fantasy.

The one shot te Pati Māori now have is to rally around the Leadership and support it while forcing Doc and the Kapa-Kingi’s to drop their civil war. That’s the only chance te Pati Māori have of regaining the momentum to have true influence on the next Government.

The AGM is in December, this needs to be sorted one way or another by then.

I’ve been commentating on Politics for 30 years and if there is one thing that is certain, Māori voters who have had their hopes dashed once again by collapsed promises turn harshly on those who have disappointed them.

If the civil war actually removes the te Pati Māori leadership, Labour will take back the Māori electorates as voters lash out.

National, ACT and NZF are laughing in gratitude.

If the Leadership is toppled, Doc and the Kapa-Kingi’s will have managed to prove every right wing racist nutter right.

What a sad day for the wider Left, what a terrible day for Māori politics.

Kia kaha to Debbie and Rawiri.

  1. Sadly the Maori have not learned from the past tribal mistakes .You have until xmas to get it sorted or its good bye .If I was Chippy I would be asking HANNA to stand for Labour at the next election as she will be the biggest loss to NZ if these other large egotists dont wake up .A party is more than a couple of ego maniacs at the top they are every member who has voted for all of the candidates .The old Maori proverb ,A FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD DOWN ,is being shown to be true at the present time .

  2. This TMP fiasco is getting far too much oxygen. Let’s all back off, refer to them only as FKK and focus on the main TPM party leaders and their objectives. In other words just ignore these wannabes – they are small fry in the scale of things. Of course our RW media will be all over it, but again “no comment” from us. FKK are so like Luxon, enormous egos, small brain capacity and actually irrelevant. However I need to wonder whether there is something more dishonest/sinister going on here even to the point of bribery from – take a guess? Let’s face it corruption with this CoC is at a dangerous level and getting worse by the day, so start digging folk, someone out there knows exactly who is playing this sick game. The reason is obvious.

  3. Just to be contrary, I suggest it is a good thing if Te Pati Maori gets its bloodletting done and over now.

These things always happen in politics and in all political parties (remember Jami Lee Ross anyone? The hit job on Simon Bridges? Gaurav Sharma? The drama of the Greens?) so this is not something unique or irreparable.

  4. So Labour may need this rabble to join their team to lead the country I wonder what ministry they would be allotted. War and industrial relations springs to mind
