New Zealand ‘mega strike’: 100,000 public sector workers demand better conditions
Teachers, nurses and public service staff among those walking off job and also pressing for more government investment in health and education
Despite the terrible weather.
Despite the Public Service scumbags paying for adverts to denigrate the Unions.
Despite Luxon attacking the Unions.
Despite Judith Collins attacjing the Unions.
Despite Simeon Brown attacking the Unions.
Despite Erica Stanford attacking the Unions.
Despite all that, the people united can never be defeated, and THIS is what that protest was all about…

…this anti-Treaty, anti-Māori, anti-beneficiary, anti-disabled, anti-worker, anti-renter and anti-environment Government are strangling the common good to promote their donors interests and the NZ Union movement have finally found their voice since the passing of Helen Kelly.
Congratulations to all those who stood and used their voice.
Now to the next strike until we beat this terrible Government back!

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

MP pay should be tied to teacher pay – similar level of responsibility, though often honoured in the breach.
I love this idea, SM.
If only they could remember they’re supposed to be the grown-ups in the room.
Make them live in state housing too!
It was marvellous eh. I see prison officers were also on strike. And don’t forget Resene workers were on strike last week and don’t even get paid Living Wage. Meanwhile, Collins, Stanford and Simeon just lie and l iie and lie.
Lets have 500k next time .Power to the people .200K ON THE STEPS OF PARLIAMENT WOULD LOOK BLOODY FANTASTIC .No doubt they will rush through an anti strike bill but lets see them arrest 200k people and lock them up in one day .
If the only leverage you have in an employment dispute with a bad faith actor is the withdrawal of your labour, and they then try to make that illegal… that’s when everyone should strike. Grind the entire country to a standstill, and watch them screech like tree frogs in a microwave. Let them bleed money until they see reason and understand what “good faith” really means.
I think the real issue is their ideological hatred of unions and their righteous indignation at the notion someone other than the owner-class should benefit equitably from their labour. That and the need to plug the gaping hole Nicky No-Boats blew in the country’s finances thanks to National’s landlord lolly-scramble.
What about the crown workers that got a 20% pay increase.
Oh yes there’s more money for them somehow?
Where are the day after reports about the mega strike and photos of the numbers where they could go ahead, with weather not too bad? No coverage from stuff or Herald. Is this a deliberate snub so as not to offend the above mentioned MPs?
All those condescending numpties were telling everyone to get back to the negotiating table if they wanted to be taken seriously. Yet we heard yesterday that it’s a movable negotiating table. Those unions turn up where they were told to turn up, only to find no-one’s there representing the govt. How is that ‘good faith’?
This govt. is a joke. They came into being as a joke coalition loosely negotiated by 3 incompetents. They continue every week to become less and less like a proper govt. full of actual professionals who know what they are doing. As usual the govt. is on the wrong side of everything. Most people support the strikers and can see through the tanties those ministers were having earlier in the week.
So, we conclude, luxon’s incompetent ministers can’t find the negotiating table, therefore they can’t be said to be doing their jobs.
