Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

It’s not a piece of cake having a baby but politicians and bean counters take physical human things for granted or despise them with lofty attitudes.

    Medical people can become sainted.
One who was thoughtful for mothers and ended up being brutalised in a an asylum and dying because of it – Ignaz Semmelweis
Hungarian physician, early pioneer of antiseptic procedures (1818–1865)
Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis was a Hungarian physician and scientist of German descent who was an early pioneer of antiseptic procedures and was described as the “saviour of mothers”. Postpartum infection, also known as puerperal fever or childbed fever, consists of any bacterial infection of the reproductive tract following birth and in the 19th century was common and often fatal. (Remembering the past that enabled a better present, The strivers before us.)

    • Further to above and remembering past strivers have come across this man. Can we ignore such findings and go our own wilful ways again that cause pain yet we go on uncaring and unthinking. I think now we are forced to try harder, there are no more millenia for us to paddle our own canoe in, climate change and wastage of resources proceeds apace!
Harry Allen Overstreet 1875-1970 was an American social psychologist and a staunch advocate of an informed citizenry. He dedicated much of his career to educating adults on social, psychological, and political subjects through lectures and books.

Overstreet wrote several books in which he collected his New School lectures, such as Influencing Human Behavior (1925), in which he discussed how techniques from the comparatively new discipline of psychology could be used to change people’s actions. In About Ourselves: Psychology for Normal People (1927), Overstreet wrote about psychological “malformations” that could occur in ordinary individuals and how they could be overcome. He explored a more philosophical vein in The Enduring Quest: A Search for a Philosophy of Life (1931), which concerned making sense of existence in a time of scientific and social change. In We Move in New Directions (1933), Overstreet considered what would replace what he called the “profit-economy” and its attendant waste…
In Overstreet’s book Our Free Minds (1941), he argued that adults’ fading memories of their social studies lessons was “the gravest problem of our democracy.” His best-selling book The Mature Mind (1949) explained, in layman’s terms, psychological and psychiatric techniques and their relationship to social interaction. It was a finalist for the National Book Award.

There is no reason why all older retired Kiwis can’t put in 4 hours of voluntary work helping the country ease its uneasy way into the future, mentoring some young people, teaching knitting, cooking, woodworking etc. At present the country is not being supported by the elderly whatever their assets and whoever they are.

The ones who have made money can still enjoy it but show some zeal for the New ones coming along, the ones who have just got by are still worthy. When they wait at the hospital clinics for attention they can chat to each other about their latest project and successes of the past. So, good idea?! How about that Trev you old know-all, (from another one.)
