A Hive of Scum and Villainy

Just consider what the Government have used Fast Track Powers for and ask ion that is really the development NZ needs or wants?

Mining, Prisons and fucking Bloated Swine Cruise Ships are the important areas the Government wants to ram through.

How the Christ is that an economic vision?

Compare the meaningless bullshit the government put up as their ‘energy plan’ that will do nothing vs the well thought out response from the NZ Unions…

No Power in Government Electricity Reforms – NZCTU

The Government’s proposed package of reforms to the electricity sector will do nothing to stem job losses, or manage the cost of living for New Zealanders said NZCTU Te Kauae Kaimahi Economist Craig Renney. “The Government is tackling non-existent problems such as financing investment, while dodging the real issues, such as delivering new generation and excessive dividend distribution. It’s time that New Zealand’s electricity supply was brought back into public hands, not just further mismanaged.”

“The Government’s proposals amount to doubling down on the problem which will compound a broken system. Jobs are being lost on a weekly basis across New Zealand and high electricity prices are contributing to those losses. Households faced an average 11.4% increase in electricity prices. Yet the best thing that the Government can do is write a sternly worded letter to the Generators.

“The Government claims that it wishes to ‘improve electricity market transparency and information’, yet it supported the Electricity Authority stopping the provision of information on electricity market margins earlier this year.

“Instead of getting on with fixing the electricity system, the Government has sought to deliver an LNG terminal which will be years away – when renewable energy projects in New Zealand could be started now.”

Renney said, “This Government has failed to address the challenges inherent in our current electricity market. The NZCTU believes that electricity is a public utility, rather than a source of profit. Even the Government’s own press release states that the market has failed to invest, and we are now paying the price. The weak package put forward by Ministers today shows how much better a publicly owned electricity system, as proposed by the NZCTU, would be for the future of New Zealand.”

…how can you pretend National’s ideas are better than the Lefts?

How much must you hate trans people, vaccines and Jacinda to continue carrying your grievances and petty bigotries?

Isn’t it time you took a long hard look at yourself in the mirror Kiwi and reflect upon your culture war wounds  and ask if your bitterness has been manipulated by the Hateful Right?

  1. Mining, oil and gas exploration…..go to your car. Go to your food, your pharmaceuticals, your fekkin everything. Without mining etc they wouldn’t exist. Tell me WTF do we want to give up voluntarily???? Spoiler alert: our way of living is finite, non sustainable.

    • yep – Nate Hagens and his great simplification podcast are not rosy about a fossil fuel less future without a major correction in how we live and how this will come about. we can plan for a managed decline but it ain’t looking likely with buffoons like Jones in charge

  2. The right are unhinged across the world they’re morally and economically bankrupting their own countries Trump said it in his UN speech which is the only coherent thing he sprouted in a while.

  3. This government is more concerned about profit than people so it needs a big clean out before that is likely to change. My concern is that LINO have not shown any major desire to reform for the last 40 years so there needs to be a strong MMP partner that can get progressive ideas like the NZED and MOW introduced so that any developments make the state stronger instead of being sent offshore as private sector profits.

  4. People shouldn’t kid themselves: imported LNG would be multiple times more expensive than renewables.

How about instead we use the hydro lakes as “battery storage” and actively and financially encourage the large scale uptake of residential and industrial solar, and plough money into larger geothermal operations.

Our existing gas supplies can then be reserved for industry/commercial while they transition to clean energy.

Forget fossil. We don’t need more of that.

    • forget fossil? electricity doesn’t come close to replacing it without a massive upheaval in Business As Usual and diminishing of lifestyles. Good luck with that.

  5. more reach arounds searching for a past that has gone flaccid – the fossil fueled boom is over – get used to it.

  6. The CoC’s fast track priorities are so bizarre it’s laughable. For how long have we been saying that natural energy sources, i.e. wind, solar and hydro are the least expensive in the long run but it’s like banging your head against a brick wall? Why pay for unnatural energy sources like coal, oil, gas or nuclear when we have the resources free from nature. Luxon is so simple-minded that he just does as directed by NZF and ACT without any thought process or opposition. How come we have been ‘played down’ with this apology for a leader? I’m sure he is a good husband and father but as a politician he is appallingly weak and incompetent. We need a leader with strength, moral fortitude and vision. We can’t keep going down this slippery path as it leads nowhere but to oblivion for NZ. Our country needs your help now, but please stop fawning over the USA and Trump – he is now certifiably insane!

  7. Obviously National policies are worse than the Left.

    Labour, on the other hand?

Why hasn’t Hipkins ALREADY committed to implementing this- with less gradualism- on day 1?

  8. You can’t say Nationals ideas are better, but you can say they are a lot worse. They are an embarrassment. Their handling of the economy has been a debacle and that sentiment is being echoed across both sides of the political spectrum. All because they were paid off to do the wrong thing
