Labour leader Chris Hipkins and Greens co-leader Marama Davidson have blasted the Government’s decision not to recognise Palestinian statehood, with Hipkins calling it “morally reprehensible” and a failure of leadership. The Government is tipped to unveil its long-awaited electricity reforms on Wednesday. Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith is threatening to legislate over court rulings that recognise tikanga Māori. The Government will today announce an overhaul of the nation’s earthquake prone building system, in a bid to slash billions from remediation costs by changing earthquake standards.
