National’s economic failure is hitting Nelson hard.

“Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis’s economic mismanagement is wrecking local communities – and Griffin’s proposal to close the Proper Crisps factory in Nelson is the latest example,” said Nelson MP Rachel Boyack.

“Yesterday’s GDP data was a damning verdict on National’s inability to run the economy. The numbers don’t lie – New Zealand is going backwards under their watch.

“And the consequences are real: businesses are closing, jobs are being lost, and families are paying the price.

“Day after day we get the news that National is failing New Zealand businesses.

“Just weeks ago, 142 jobs were lost at Eves Valley Sawmill. Then Sealord announced a proposed closure putting 79 more at risk. Now even more Nelson families face the pain and uncertainty of losing their jobs.

“Every business closure, every lost job, every person moving overseas to find work just adds to the evidence that National cannot run the economy.

“Christopher Luxon stood in front of New Zealanders before the election and promised to make life better for New Zealanders. Instead, he is making it worse. Nelson and every other community across New Zealand cannot afford another three years of National,” Rachel Boyack said.
