The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Just passing this on about edible Miners Lettuce – good for Vit C I think. I find that spending time on this political blog trying to put up some idea that will break though the smog we’re under, means less time for myself and food. So this stuff m.l. seeds prolifically and the real builders of NZAO found it useful to help them keep going so we can look at these and other plants that we think of as weeds as a modern aid.

A 100g serving of miner’s lettuce contains:
• a third of a person’s daily recommended intake (DRI)
for vitamin C
• 22 per cent of the DRI for vitamin A
• 10 per cent of the DRI for iron
Pick the tender stems and leaves as you would a bunch of violets. The taste is crisp and juicy, with a hint of lemon. It’s so mild in flavour that children will eat it. Chickens like it too.
The leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and anti-oxidants. They also contain manganese, potassium, iron, copper and calcium. Seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
The leaves can be useful as a base for raw winter salads, or can be chopped up with the stalks, steamed and served with butter, pepper and salt. The small white flowers are also edible.
WARNING
Miner’s lettuce can contain oxalates. It should not be eaten by anyone who may have or who is at risk of gout, kidney stones or rheumatism.
(I get gout so will try it carefully.)

All About Miner’s Lettuce – Backyard Forager
Miner’s lettuce is such a mild, tasty leaf, it’s best appreciated fresh and raw, either in a salad or tucked into a sandwich. It’s one of the few greens you could make an entire salad out of and find it neither boring nor overpowering.

Is miner’s lettuce edible? – Chef’s Resource
The best time to harvest miner’s lettuce is in the spring when the leaves are young and tender. After washing the leaves thoroughly, they can be used fresh in salads or as a garnish.

Jesus H Christ, some of the moderators at TS are becoming more precious by the day, as are one or a few of the commenters.
Kudos to Lprent and Mickey Savage, but fark! Polly Wanna Cracker, Incognito, Ad and others have some serious issues going on.
I got banned years ago for offering something Parakura Horomia stated to me directly (i.e. in conversation and difficult to provide “a link”). It was in private – although he would not have minded if it became public.
TS is an interesting read to understand the state of mind of those that indulge, but I wouldn’t want to be married to a good many of them. Many Trumpian in the size of their egos. But of course they’re considerably, considerably, c o n s i d e r a b l y, CONSIDERABLY more intelligent than moi, AND their farts don’t smell = probably because of the rosewater.
Worth 20 mins or so daily to watch egos in action if you’re at a loose end, and good value if only for Mountain Tui, Tiger Mountain and one or two otherings (in that space, going forward).
We also have Tiger Mountain’s words. TS Green stuff tends to be soggy rather than bouncy. I gave up TS when classism and racism and ability to be open was interfered net with censure; polite free speech was negatively commented on – I couldn’t criticise Seymour because he had found a Maori side in his whakapapa. Same guy as always, just some Maori blood placed him apart.
