Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. 22 year old Tyler Robinson has been apprehended and confeesed to the killing of Charlie Kirk.
    Police say Tyler acted alone.
This goes against the Trump narrative hinting at a Leftwing conspiracy.

The danger now, is that Robinson does not make it to court, and suffers the fate of Lee Harvey Oswald, which will allow the Trump administration to paint what ever conspiracy narrative they choose on the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Will the Trump use this senseless killing as an excuse to crack down on his political opponents?

The world is at a turning point. Depending on what happens next, it could go either way

  2. In every Hollywood movie ever, the protagonist is always some polished professional gun for hire who meticulously plan their assassinations and get away with it. And so begins the movie plot of the hero or heroes of the story uncovering some sort of a complicated hidden conspiracy.

The reality couldn’t be more different. Weird loners, who shouldn’t have had access to firearms.

  3. Something about NZAO and Kiwis getting on with living. This from The Country which might fill a gap that exists behind formula newspapers and local reports and advertising features which are great but this could be good addition.

    [From Whanganui]
A historical locomotive has been unearthed on Whanganui’s South Mole.
The locomotive has been confirmed by SteamRail Whanganui Inc representatives to be “The Skunk” – the first railway locomotive, alongside “The Wallaby”, to run a scheduled service between Palmerston North and Foxton from 1876.
The Skunk later worked on the line between Palmerston North and Whanganui from 1878….

    THE FACTS
New Zealand relies on domestic vegetable growers to feed its population.
The vegetable-growing area has shrunk by more than 25% over the past decade.
The Government is consulting on national standards for vegetable production.

More likely than not, you buy your broccoli at the supermarket.
Unlike fruit, it doesn’t have a sticker, so there is no way of knowing where it came from.
If the supermarket is following the rules, it should say “Product of New Zealand” or something similar on the sign with the price, but no further details.
That broccoli was probably grown in New Zealand, and probably on the island where you live.
Far more likely than not, it was grown by a family business, sold to a wholesaler, then sold to one of the two big supermarket chains, trucked to a distribution centre in Auckland, Palmerston North or Christchurch, then redistributed in a refrigerated truck back to a supermarket near you….

How does this sound? Do vegetables and mines exist side by side? Read on and find out – (My invitation.)

Petrol stations with a heart, giving to community. Compare to Waitomo.
    https://www.waitomogroup.co.nz/about
It came out of Waitomo area and was to save money on fuel for that area. Has come to Nelson taking over from Mobil and now Lisa and Steve and others don’t have their job there as it is card operated. Is that an advance for us in practical and efficient business practice. Go for the money and cut out people who actually buy your goods??

So Z sounds good but will it go card? Handing out charity to needy people at the same time reducing their opportunities to get a job, earn and be independent – would that be good for all? The local Z that I go to has mostly Indian people. Very good, but is that what we can expect in future? Present Kiwis forced out of their supposed citizenship and being economic-actors place in the community? I am not at all sanguine about this.

  5. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/572966/advocates-concerned-women-ignored-in-new-homelessness-strategy
We should take note of this – a continuing reality for ordinary women without means underlying the me-too middle class histrionics of raucous women protesting with the woke banner.
The Coalition to End Women’s Homelessness project director Victoria Crockford said, while the language was vague, a “rebalancing” could be at the expense of those who work with a specific group of people experiencing homelessness – such as women, children or older people.
She said research by the group last year found New Zealand’s 57,000 homeless women “would do anything to avoid sleeping rough” due to the additional safety concerns of gendered violence…

Crockford also warned of the government replacing emergency housing with transitional housing without a plan for “the potential unintended consequences”.
“The rise in rough sleeping has not happened because more people are choosing homelessness,” she said.
“It has come about because of a set of policies that are managing emergency housing policies by exclusion, at the same time as a tough economic context, which is pushing more people into housing precarity.”..

[Extra info.] Jo Cribb, who was on the Coalition to End Women’s Homelessness’ steering committee,…
“Women and men’s experience of homelessness is very different, and we need a range of services that are going to work for all.”
“Women make up 50 percent – or more – of the homeless population, and they aren’t the ones rough sleeping, so this is only really focusing on the ones you can see…
Cribb said the Coalition to End Women’s Homelessness had to work hard with government agencies for them to even collect data by gender.
“Up until very recently, no data was collected by gender, which means the policy makers are flying blind when they are making policy decisions…

  6. Has anyone else noticed.

    1. The restoration of the HUAC era threat of action against civil rights advocacy (now “DEI”).
2a The emergence of a women’s rights movement that idolises “white race heterosexual Christian men” like Charlie Kirk”, that is a in effect a secular shadow of the Promise Keeper movement.
2b One that opposes DEI (here favour to Maori to New Zealand), that includes people who are (say they are) Maori and in the USA those like Candace Owens.

    • DEI: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
HUAC – …popularly the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), was an investigative committee of the United States House of Representatives, created in 1938 to investigate alleged disloyalty and subversive activities on the part of private citizens, public employees, …
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Un-American_Activities_Committee
So we all think we know what we are talking about? Acronyms abound sheesh.
Do we have to look at USA things so much when we know that they are important in cutting us off at the knees – us ‘tall poppies’?
