  1. “Once upon a time”

From the paepae at Waiheke Piritahi Marae

“….Why are you standing against Oriini?”

Peeni Henare @53:00 minuites: “……Once apon a time, we used to believe having more Maori in Parliament would fix things.
Right now Parliament has more Maori than it ever had, ever. And Maori isn’t getting any better.
And who is responsible for a lot of the challenges that we are having at the moment – Maori. My matua Shane, He’s my uncle, I was raised with his tamariki. My uncle Winston, he is literally my uncle. And it’s important, not only do I respect them because they are my uncles, but I am not shy to get up in their faces and say, ‘that is not good enough, you are not representing us well’.
So my point here is; I’ve always said it isn’t just about more Maori, it’s about the right people in there to do the things that our people need. And I have always said that. That’s what I have always believed. And I know some have said, ‘that if I am successful in blockiing a Wahine Maori. All I can say is, in Labour should I be successful I will say another wahine Moari comes in behind us. Another one.
    Now, Kirikiriroa it doesn’t matter…..
…..So I am very clear that I am here to seek the clear mandate for Tamaki Makaurau. Because when you have that mandate, you can then say I stand and speak on behalf of Tamaki Makaurau. And that’s what I’ll do.”

Once upon a time is for fairy tales.

As Hone Harawira says We have to deal wilth reality, And the reality is this;. we have to do every thing we can to get rid of this anti-Maori, anti-people, anti-taiao government.

    Hone Harawira:
“The reality is that this government  is focused on the destruction of Māori, absolute  destruction of Māori whānau, Māori language,  Māori kaupapa, Māori economic development, Māori environmental policies, Māori anything……”

Peeni Henare I would say to you;  You will win this by-election because you have the better ground game. And when you win, which you will, you will have no need to stand again next year. You have no need to prove you have a mandate, you will have already done that, you will have achieved your mandate. You will have proved to everyone that you have a mandate, no need to do it again. .

And the Labour Party and Te Pati Maori and the Green Party can work together to get rid of this government by getting, in your words, “the right people in there”.

If Paul Goldsmith can do it in Epsom to get David Seymour into parliament to maximise National’s majority and keep Labour out.

Then you Peeni Henare can do it in Tamaki Makaurau to get your sister Oriini Kaipara into parliament to increase Labour’s majority and keep National out.

Martyn Bradbury has said that “Labour would rather keep control of the losing side than share control with the winning side.”

This is my challenge to Peeni Henare and the Labour Party, prove Martyn Bradbury wrong

The time for fairy tales, and once upon a times is over.

Hone Harawira says we must deal with reality, Martyn Bradbury says; We need transformative change.
Dealing witth reality and achieveing transformative change together, Te Pati Maori, te taiao Green Party, Labour Party. tātou tātou.

    • Problem you see as an issue I see as an non issue. Remember that our MP’s represent all New Zealander’s, not just Maori (Maori seat excluded).

So get in their face and chide them for not representing Maori, fair enough. But be mindful they are also answerable to the other 84% of the electorate as well. Balance there needs to be from your uncles.

The over riding sense I get from the podcasts is that the 84% are not even considered, they are sidelined in any discussion and their views ignored. Like we don’t exist. Well we do with many generations born of this land..

I would say do it at your peril, Be inclusive for the rest of us have a voice (vote) as well.

I would like to see a podcast with a discussion how the two cultures (one a multicultural and ethnic diverse. the other an ethnic mono culture) can co exist. For coexist we must. Unless you want separate homelands and jurisdictions (including taxation) for those inhabitants within that region. Much like North American / Canadian native tribes.
