What on earth?

Alcohol laws to be loosened, government announces

The government has signed off on a plan to ease alcohol restrictions, pledging fewer hurdles for bars and bottle stores, as first revealed by RNZ earlier this month.

The proposed changes to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act would make it harder for people to block liquor licences and simpler for ministers to declare one-off special trading hours for pubs or clubs screening major sport or cultural events.

Speaking at Auckland’s Lula Inn on Thursday morning, Associate Justice Minister Nicole McKee said the shake-up was “careful and considered”, and designed to remove pointless or unhelpful barriers.

Why the risen Christ are we doing anything to help the fucking Booze Barons?

So McKee’s not only a pimp for the Gun Industry, she’ll show the Booze Market a good time as well?

It’s like finding out Cancer is also selling machetes as a side hustle.

Why the hell should we be doing anything for the bloody booze barons?

This country is drowning in booze as it is!

It’s in every fucking Supermarket, you can buy it everywhere and most of the bottle shops are exploiting migrant worker labour.

Why aren’t we cracking down on the industry rather than allowing them to expand their bloody bottle shops!

By reducing who can complain, what they do is remove the solidarity communities can arrange when fighting these bastards!

By limiting someone making a complaint, the industry hopes to isolate Community groups rather than letting them work together.

That’s the true point of changing who can make a complaint, that’s why they want this power, they want to limit complaints about setting up  even more bloody grog outlets.

You really think NZ needs more piss?

We are a bloody nation of boozers and all the social damage that comes with it.

Aren’t most of those Adult ADHD diagnosis a nice middle class way of ignoring Mum drank during pregnancy?

The total cost of booze on public health is enormous and the real price of that social carnage is never covered by the producers of it!

How is muting the complaints process going to do a bloody thing to help the economy?

It’s like this Government bends over backwards for the Tobacco Industry, the Booze Industry, the Speculative Property Pimps,  the Billionaires, the Mining Industry and the Polluters!

They give these venomous interests priority over us the people.

And we all have to pretend that’s somehow acceptable???

The Jackboot of State regulation has to always be on the throats of those who make addictive and damaging products, why do they get cuddles and the rest of us get the stick?

    What could possibly go wrong?

(PS This is all the fault of the previous Labour Government. )

  2. Luxon, Seymour and Peters are just applying the jug rule for potential hookups to politicians and understand that the voters will need to be drunk before they would consider voting for them again.
At least your offering a decent review of the decision, the commercial media is more interested in advertising revenue than community health so I don’t expect much from them.
