The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Trusted Adult Guarantee – men are needed who are kindly and wise and can support boys who feel lost and are being drawn to the right and are drenched in the violence that is in our media (games and films which all come with warnings sometimes of five areas that are OTT.) We have Big Brothers Big Sisters in NZ. Mentoring . 12 regions I think – seems good.
But it is an attempt to make up for unsupported families, so if we did both we could have lots of people cohesing and help each other as given the example of the Student Volunteer Army. We must assist practical, non-cult people in the community things they do. Only that will save our society and country.

After the September earthquake in Christchurch last year, Sam Johnson started a 200 member Facebook page to co-ordinate students who wanted to help. within a short time, the page catered to 2500 students cleaning up the liquefaction issues that resulted from that first quake.
Back then, Apple NZ contributed three iPhones to help them communicate; these were gratefully received and worked effectively in managing this earthquake.
I look on the Student Volunteer Army website now, it is an extraordinary production, looks as if from a business. So it doesn’t seem to be just a bunch of good-hearted young people getting together to serve their fellows in need. So don’t know who or what thought drives it now, is behind it but it has coalesced university students etc successfully, so that’s a positive there.
Is Mike King trying to do something similar at a level of the young lost? What is going on there? We need people getting together with their cohorts so there will be different levels, and then they have to find common ground perhaps literally, in regions etc.
Goodwill, willingness to help and keep to the task and decisions, and practicality and interaction with discussion and joint agreements – like a jury say 10 out of 12. But in life one has to be thoughtful about those two who have some reason for not agreeing – what is it? We have to be sharper if we are going to survive as an entity and not warrior groups barking at each other.
About –
The Student Volunteer Army (SVA) is a New Zealand student movement born from a Facebook page started following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. The network has no military affiliation and is focused on facilitating community action through youth engagement, preparing for disasters, and service.[1] The clubs and volunteers are supported by the Volunteer Army Foundation (VAF).
Whilst the movement grew to address community needs in the recovery period following the Christchurch earthquakes, the SVA has never been a solely disaster response focused organisation. The movement operates under an aim to make volunteering and service an intrinsic part of the student experience, and show all New Zealanders the power they have to drive the change they wish to see in their communities. It is this ethos that has allowed the movement to persist beyond the immediate earthquake response.[2] The evidence of this ethos can be seen in the club culture of the UC Student Volunteer Army, and in initiatives such as the SVA School Kit[3] and the Serve for New Zealand[4] campaign. …
Then looking back at Big brothers big sisters I see about the American group for background information.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Brothers_Big_Sisters_of_America#Impact
is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to “create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth”.[3] Looked at objectively it looks good – it has been going there since 1904 and needs to have been done on a national scale, viewing the present unthinking and reactionary responses in that country. (Note that it is a 501 organisation and how come Oz returning residents back to NZ after committing crime, is said to be under a 501? law. Coincidence.)
But the program seems good and so mentoring and helping young adults – from 14 say – and helping families and parents from the first as they ask and providing workshops and annual get togethers like summer schools at universities where they can learn stuff that will enrich their lives and their citizenship understanding could be done. Won’t be because those in power don’t find it efficacious.
However the ideals of Hitler Youth in 1930’s Germany got used and confused. It actually got started in 1922.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Youth
From 1936 until 1945, it was the sole official boys’ youth organisation in Germany (although the League of German Girls was a wing of it) and it was partially a paramilitary organisation. It was composed of the Hitler Youth proper for male youths aged 14 to 18, and the German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth (Deutsches Jungvolk in der Hitler Jugend or “DJ”, also “DJV”) for younger boys aged 10 to 14. …
The Hitler Youth were used to break up church youth groups, spy on religious classes and Bible studies,[42] and interfere with church attendance.[43][44] Education and training programs for the Hitler Youth were designed to undermine the values of traditional structures of German society. Their training also aimed to remove social and intellectual distinctions between classes, to be replaced and dominated by the political goals of Hitler’s totalitarian dictatorship….
In 1942 Hitler decreed the establishment of “Hitler Youth defence training camps”, led by Wehrmacht officers.[56] Nazi leaders began turning the Hitler Youth into a military reserve to replace manpower which had been depleted due to tremendous military losses. The idea for a Waffen-SS division made up of Hitler Youth members was first proposed by Axmann to Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in early 1943.[61]…
So one must be careful about things, remembering how devious we can be. We don’t r generally about ‘the seven deadly sins’ = do we think they don’t apply any more?

Attention citizens!
The Coalition Government is consulting the public on its proposed changes to our national freshwater policy that would remove protection for freshwater and allow for even more pollution of our rivers, lakes, groundwater and beaches. (See the ODT, 18 July, “Gore residents warned to not drink town’s water.)
The environmental heritage of future generations is to be swapped for short term economic growth.
Speak up now so your children and their children will enjoy clean, free-flowing waterways and a healthy future.

…Police are concerned for the welfare of the 75-year-old, [beekeeper Roy Arbon] who is overdue from a walk up Mt Davy to Mt Sewell, north-east of Greymouth, on Wednesday…
[Helped at Erebus crash site in very poor conditions.
Recovered students bodies at Cave Creek after another government-enabled tragedy.]
He was detained in Australia after a suitcase he carried from Brazil was found to be concealing more than 2kg of cocaine.
Arbon was found not guilty of drug smuggling following a trial at Western Australia’s District Court. The story was later told in the documentary film The Scam. 2012.
