Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Gurwinder Singh was sentenced in the Manukau District Court this week to seven months’ home detention on tax evasion charges and for possessing electronic sales suppression tools (ESST) to evade the assessment and payment of tax.

IRD said Singh, who runs a pizza outlet in Waiuku, admitted he was hiding income from his tax agent so that he did not have to pay so much tax…

Too much of our vaunted competition brings out the devious survival techniques of smart people. And that must be condemned? Pity we didn’t have the same result for our political parties. Bring in cheaper ones from overseas. The present expensive ones are robbing us of everything anyway – soon we won’t have anything left to lose!!

  2. Yanis Varoufakis was Greek Finance Minister and did know and comprehend what it was all about unlike Willis, who knows how to wear coloured suits with a conventional cut, and how to comport herself when surrounded by lyins in sharkskin suits.

So Yanis’ speech here sounds sound. Hah!

Yanis Varoufakis is a Greek economist, author, and former finance minister of Greece, known for his outspoken critiques of austerity and neoliberal economic policies. A prominent voice in European economic debates, he advocates for democratic reform of international financial institutions and greater transparency in economic governance. Through his books, interviews, lectures, and media appearances, Varoufakis explores themes such as economic justice, the flaws of the Eurozone, and the need for a more equitable global economic system.

Greens Call For NZ Govt To Take UK’s Lead And Lower Voting Age
Friday, 18 July 2025, 9:16 am Press Release: Green Party
If the UK are doing it – stay well clear. They have drunk the kool-aid and are well insulated and isolated from every thought of value and financial sense far from values of the past; they are a broken reed (thatching now being bypassed).

And the NZ Green Party can’t yet be trusted to produce a plan that has been well thought out to serve the country, put in place faithfully and thoughtfully worked at it, and shown that they are more than just cardboard cutouts of grown-up rebellious teenagers who know ALL probably through AI.

Young voters would be good but need to be prepared in advance, start now on an instruction regime in this country immediately that the Greens advance to ensure that voters and candidates aren’t ignorant of what is required to run the country and practically face problems facing citizens. The studies would be similar to the WEA and Wellington WEA has prepared an information site with history, and is the only one I found readable as the others are in small font, so pale grey, almost invisible. https://www.wellingtonwea.org.nz/about/

This is an example of fashion over-riding practicality and service, a similar example of the Greens behaviour when enabled to attend Parliament. New young voters have to be ready to make practical moves and not play to the latest fancies of society. If they did study and think, the young ones might replace half the pollies presently seated. Self-advancement has been helped by ignorant voters and so the young ones would have much to do to manage and prepare for growing hard times. The present ones are mainly time-wasters with a modicum of knowledge and strength of purpose.

As for a leader. Labour had a good one in Jacinda and she caught up the country but after going up, Labour let her down with poor economic policies. (Jacinda’s treatment reminds me of Nancy Wake,. a very brave and charismatic Australian figure in WW2 French Resistance who then went back to Australia, was snatched up by the conservatives who put her up for an unwinnable seat. All her rousing speeches and publicity enabled the incumbents to win on her post-war fervour. She got nothing but empty promises, unwanted fame, and when her second husband died, returned to the UK in her old age.
