US/Israel illegal war on Iran – the ‘Rules Based Order’ is now meaningless

I have zero time for Theocracy, whether it is Christian, Muslim or Hindu because I don;t believe Religion should impact any of our politics.

I have very little sympathy for the Iranian Theocracy, they kill little girls for not wearing headscarves, but I understand how this mutation came to be and that is BECAUSE THE US CAUSED A COUP IN 1953 TO STEAL IRANIAN OIL!!!!

Yes the Iranian Theocracy is terrible thing, but it’s a terrible thing caused by an evil thing!

So while I have zero time for the Iranian Theocracy I have even less time for American exceptionalism!

Let’s be very clear, there is NO legal justification for the war on Iran that Israel and America have embarked upon.

There was no immediate threat that justified bombing Iran.

There was no legal justification for doing this.

What America and Israel have done here by starting an illegal war with Iran is that they have walked away from the Rules Based Order.

How dare we lecture Russia for starting a war with the Ukraine, if we in the West do it as well?

How is it acceptable to start wars with weaker nations and exploit that weakness with B-2 Bombers FFS!

Listening to the American’s boast about how their stealth bombers weren’t spotted and giving geek details about the bombs used are the actions of a mad King.

The West lost the moral high ground long ago, this weekend is just another new low point in our corporate murder war machine.

  1. The ‘Rules Based Order’ has always been meaningless. Was it meaningful when US terrorists destroyed Iraq, murdering more than a million acftual human beings?

    Was it meaningful when we helped Australia invade East Timor to steal their oil and gas reserves?

    • The Timor intervention was a UN intervention, approved by the UN Security Council. Specifically in support of the Timor people. Even Indonesia (the occupying power after the 1975 coup) quickly recognised Timor Leste independence. I visited Timor in January 2000. New Zealand (and it’s soldiers) were widely seen as ensuring the independence of the Timor people with their own state of Timor Leste.

      • Common sense would suggest that when the Portugese pulled out, Timor Leste should have become part of Indonesia, which of course does not excuse the Indonesian atrocities committed later. I think certain politicians like Horta were opposed for venal reasons.

  2. Two wrongs. The Iranians have been contravening the UN with their nuclear programme and the US executive attacked a country (not for the first time) without congressional support. Pragmatically we are better off with the Iranians having no nuclear weapons. The regime change comments are very concerning though. Iran will turn into another Afghanistan or Iraq. There again perhaps someone wants to be Shah of Iran.

    • Seems to me that the US and Israel only attack countries that don’t possess nukes. That would appear to be a powerful incentive to have some.

      That’s a blatant untruth. Iran was abiding by the Obama administration negotiated agreement until USA unilaterally ripped it up under Trump for no justifiable reason excepting presumably that it was at Israel’s request or to just childishly destroy anything Obama achieved. All recent assessments of US “intelligence” agencies reported that Iran had no nuclear weapons programme and was nowhere near achieving one.

  3. The “Rules Based Order” is not meaningless. It was always exactly that. What no leader (e.g. virtue signalling sycophants like Jacinda, Macron or Trudeau) failed to mention is who exactly makes the rules everyone is supposed to follow, or even what the “rules” actually are. It was always a word-salad psy-op, and anyone that believed anything these people say is delusional.

    • All nations basically understood the international rules post 1945. They are embodied in the UN.
      The blunder was to grant power of veto to the US and other security council members. Once USA had savoured the power that enabled it, then it pretty much acted as a free agent, answering to none and putting itself outside the International Court of Criminal Justice and other international legal and regulatory jurisdictions.

  4. The Rules Based Order has flexed its muscle. It has shown that it is anything but meaningless. The world and every NGO/organization within it, is subservient to the “The Rules Based Order “, aka, the US government and whomever the US wishes to protect at any given time.

    I think that most people have forgotten that the USA is a friggin superpower, thee only superpower in the world. They dominate both the military and financial/business spheres of the world. Nobody, bar nobody wants to mess around with them, and this includes both Russia and China.

    BRICS is a bidding rival to the US, but not in a take over the world, USA style type of way, but in a wrestling itself from under the thumb of the USA type of way. Iran is a key component of BRICS, hence we have what we have, the start of the dismantling of BRICS by the country that wishes to stay atop of the world.

    Best we can is stop kidding ourselves that the USA is a force for good in the world and urge for peace, everywhere!!

    • USA’s Empire is in decline, we are witnessing it’s panicked attempts to ward off or deny this reality. They will fail.
      The balance has shifted East and there is nothing USA can do to reverse it.

      • Yes indeed, ultimately they will fail, but in the meantime, they will sow a lot of chaos all throughout the world in their panicked attempts to stay atop of it And as we can clearly see, there still is no competing block to US hegemony. Europe is in decline thanks to divorcing itself from cheap Russian energy. Attacking, taking over Iran, can put a spanner in the works of Chinese economic expansion and Russia is bogged down by US/NATO proxy, Ukraine.

        We are seeing the empire attempting to drag down the entire world in order to stay atop of it, arguably the reverse of what got it to the top in the first place. Best we can do is to not support their flailing actions, and get in behind the peace crusade, because it is clear that they have chosen war, rather than increased economic productivity, as their preferred method of staying atop of the world.

    We have a spineless and corrupt government – but had we one we either brains or morals, both US and Israeli ambassadors would be packing their bags.

  10. Some think that the US attack on Iran is the opening salvo of the Third World War. To others, that seems far-fetched. While Russia and China are “allies” of Iran, there is no military alliance between the three states.
    There is a consensus of opinion that Russia and China will not intervene to protect Iran from the US assault, so no WWIII – yet.
    The real implications will become apparent if Iran falls and is dragged back into the US orbit. Then the strategic noose will be drawn tighter around both Russia and China, China will loose its crucial access to Iranian gas and oil, and if the US can drive a wedge between Russia and China (as Trump is trying to do by offering peace on Russian terms in Ukraine) then China will be greatly exposed to US attack.
    China is the one great power which the US believes it must take down in order to retain global hegemony and a US war on China, supported by Australia and New Zealand, is always on the cards. Trump is a madman, but we have seen before the capacity for a madman to inflict huge suffering on the human race, and we have seen before how those colluding with or appeasing such a maniac can do irreparable harm.
    New Zealand government take note. Try to imagine how your actions will appear ten or twenty years from now.
