Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

    • One concern is the mass individual insight this will give AI into every child’s mind and how that data will be stored and used

Another is the impact of our relationship with the AI machines. With students growing up believing their all knowing AI teachers are never wrong

  1. This sound interesting starts off mentioning citizens assemblies.
Don’t know who Roy Murphy is or background, which I like to know before I give time to something. But I put it up FYO.

Making democracy work. Part 1: building the framework

    • I’ll tell you how to make democracy work better.

Take the money out of it and give people more say over main issues

      • Run polytechnic small courses for community leaders and informed decision makers with a diploma that people add to, building numbers and expertise and information.

  2. C. Wright Mills – a continuing discourse –

    Book: The Power Elite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_Elite
    The Higher Circles extract/subtracted:
From…superficial examination of history of western society…the power of decision-makers is first …limited by level of technique, by the means of power and violence and organisation that prevail in a given society…there i a fairly straight line running upward through the history of the West, ..the means of oppression and exploitation, of violence and destruction, …and.. the means of production and reconstruction,…have been progressively enlarged and increasingly centralised.

[Add institutional and communication aspects being more efficient, commanders in power and rule now quite unsurpassed in history of mankind. History, the past offers no comfort. Hegel is correct here ‘we learn from history that we cannot learn from it.’]
For every epoch and for every social structure, we must work out an answer to the question of the power of the elite. The ends of men are often merely hopes, but means are facts within some men’s control.

[The elite end up with the power to command. Today there are awesome means of power available to them. A line ascending from Caesar and Rome, Napoleon and France, Lenin with Russia, and Hitler with Germany.]
The men of [the elite in Soviet Russia or America]…can cause great cities to be wiped out in a single night, and in a few weeks turn continents into thermonuclear wastelands. […’the decisions of small groups are now more consequential.’ But who determines? Who, what is behind the leaders’ decisions? Is it the elite themselves? Or the institutions setting out the roles? He sees the situation as fluid. ] ‘Far from being dependent upon the
structure of institutions, modern elites may smash the structure and set up another in which they then enact quite different roles.

    Sounds like Marx and Engels:
,,,The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the instruments of production, and thereby the relations of production, and with them the whole relations of society. Conservation of the old modes of production in unaltered form, was, on the contrary, the first condition of existence for all earlier industrial classes. Constant revolutionising of production, uninterrupted disturbance of all social conditions, everlasting uncertainty and agitation distinguish the bourgeois epoch from all earlier ones. …

And thoughts about people and what they in general need:

“The less you eat, drink and read books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorize, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor dust will devour – your capital.
The less you are, the more you have; the less you express your own life, the greater is your alienated life-the greater is the store of your estranged being.”
― Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
