Labour welcomes the Auditor-Generalโ€™s inquiry into the Governmentโ€™s school lunches programme.

โ€œAfter months of chaos and kids going hungry, Iโ€™m glad that David Seymourโ€™s school lunches mess is now being investigated,โ€ Labourโ€™s education spokesperson Willow-Jean Prime said.

โ€œIโ€™ve heard from schools whoโ€™ve shared their heartbreak at seeing kids going hungry following the government changes to the programme. Itโ€™s even more disheartening when the Ministerโ€™s response has been to blame and shame schools that speak out.

โ€œItโ€™s been a huge waste of time and resources for schools and has distracted many teachers from their classrooms as they dealt with David Seymourโ€™s mess.

โ€œWeโ€™ve seen reports showing the lunches are not up to nutritional standard and a procurement process that has raised many unanswered questions.

โ€œWhere Education Minister Erica Stanford has failed to act, Iโ€™m glad the Auditor-General is. David Seymour guaranteed that all will be fixed come Term 2, but the problems continue,โ€ Willow-Jean Prime said.

  1. Shouldn’t think David Seymour has ever taken responsibility for any failures, ever, in his life.
He would always be able to find someone else to blame. It’s a personality disorder and we do not need people with such disorders, in parliament.
