The ‘Trump slump’ boosts the left in Canada and Oz – but what about NZ?
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s landslide win at the weekend following Canadian Prime Minister’s Mark Carney’s victory less than a week before should indicate to our politicians that the New Zealand “Trump trend” of 2024 may have peaked. By Grant Duncan
Trump picked the wrong people to bully when he went after Australia and Canada.
Australian Politics is like the Game of Thrones, but with more incest and violence.
Forcing everyone to vote alongside a tactical voting system that allows for more behind the scenes factional rat fucking than a Rat Hotel during viagra week, so who ever manages to hold onto the slippery pole of factional power in Australian Politics deserves respect.
The extraordinary victory for Albo is birthed in part by the bewilderingly bad performance by Dutton and the reality of what Trump means minus all the culture war revenge rhetoric.
Don’t get me wrong, Australians are all up for a lynching (look at the Voice campaign), but they demand a well run lynching, not one where the executioners keep accidentally lynching themselves.
Trump’s culture war talking points seem less exciting once you see him burn $7Trillion in global wealth because of his tariff madness.
Trump wants the world to cower, what the Canadians and Australians just told America in no uncertain terms is that they will not bow the knee!
With the win of Carney and Albo, the global left can stop whipping themselves over how useless they are in the face of Trump’s extraordinary win using culture war resentment, but the culture war alt-right are still playing for keeps and we see that in the amazing win by Nigel Farage’s anti-woke dickhead rotten in local council UK elections…
Reform UK shakes up British politics with local election wins
-
- Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, won key victories in English local elections, challenging Labour and Conservatives.
- The party seized its first regional councils and mayoral posts, indicating a shift towards multi-party politics.
- Reform’s gains highlight public disillusionment with traditional parties, despite low turnout and mixed reactions.
…Here Farage has weaponised impatience at a local level over climate change infrastructure and local council social services that he has attacked as all woke.
There is however a huge difference between Farage’s win and Albos/Carney – turn out.
Turn out in UK Local elections are dreadful, around 30% and we can see the same problem with Romania’s recent election of far right Trump ally George Simion…
Far-right Trump ally secures decisive win in first round of Romania’s presidential election rerun
An ultranationalist who opposes military aid to Ukraine, has vilified the EU’s leaders, and calls himself Donald Trump’s “natural ally” has won the first round of Romania’s rerun presidential vote and will face a centrist in the runoff, as vote counting nears its end.
With 99% of votes counted late on Sunday, George Simion, whose far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) began as an anti-vax movement during the pandemic, was comfortably in the lead on a projected 40.5% of the vote.
…again, it’s the low voter turn out that generates wins for the extremists.
The alt-Right know they have a loyal voter base connected online via social media hate algorithms that can always generate voter turn out.
This is what ACT are attempting in local body elections this year.
The alt-Right have used culture war hate algorithms to excite their base and will invest that support into low voter participation local elections to maximise their cost cutting privatisation agenda.
It is a reminder that the Left can beat Trumpism now voters have seen the madness of his true vision beyond making them feel good about hating Trans people, but for the Left to win, they have to turn out.
This demands Broadchurch class solidarity policies, not pure temple identity politics.
The Left have to stop trying to punish people for not agreeing to Trans dogma, and win them back with material change.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

The Aussies looked across the Tasman and worked out very quickly the last person they needed running the show was another bald headed polished turd.
Meanwhile there’s petition going round in Alberta to make it become the 51st state. This would make Albertans wealthier and gut Canada’s economy.
Yeah nah.
Yes, and Flat Earthers periodically stand in parliamentary elections as well.
We should tremble.
