Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Looking up stuff, came on nz list of registered engineers for 2000. Reay was there for Christchurch, apparently since 1970. Then found this interesting USA link on Manhattan’s once dangerous building. I thought with the CTV collapse in mind it was interesting what a fully trained and registered engineer would do about getting right design right down to finding number of 4 bolts would be insufficient in ‘quartering’ winds – needed around 14 bolts. Worry, and action. We don’t have that calibre of oversight of highly skilled experts here I think. We arem’t 100% pure!
Fascinating and troubling – integrity of people and systems? Perhaps subscribe to Veritasium.

  2. This is not the first time that violent callous mad people have been let out of jail and attacked, killed or stalked neighbours. I think we have to have the death sentence back for people like this. They are either too bad to be trusted to live, or too mad to work out how to do so.
    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/559236/coronial-inquest-to-examine-juliana-bonilla-herrera-murder-that-had-a-high-degree-of-brutality
…In the weeks before she was killed, Bonilla-Herrera told friends Brider was watching her and she felt threatened and unsafe.
On the night of her murder he broke into her flat as she slept and subjected her to a prolonged and violent attack, repeatedly stabbing and beating her as she begged for her life…
The Parole Board had wanted to release Brider to the rehabilitation centre Salisbury Street Foundation, but said it was told there was no bed available at the time of his release….
The review by Victoria Heine KC found that Corrections did not provide incorrect information to the Parole Board ahead of Brider’s final hearing, although it noted the board would have benefited from being advised that Corrections had cancelled the Salisbury Street referral because of uncertainty about a bed.
Corrections later changed its community notification policy to include adult sex offenders following a separate independent review by Dr Gwenda Willis.
Previous guidelines determined that the community was only alerted if a parolee had offended against children.

That’s nice, a little adjustment here and another there and she’ll be right. It’s just ordinary innocent members of the public, or even someone with some criminal record who is still entitled to be not put at risk. It’s just playing draughts with these legal people. They have a hole in their heads letting air whistle through, and so consider matters in a judicious way objectively from their own class understanding according to precedent Lawyers are not necessarily compassionate people;.

Look after parents and families that is the prime move that is needed. Help them and then they are good role models. But if people turn really bad there is no going back and they spread the behaviour and upset so it replicates itself. We are fighting a system set up by National and Labour and right-wing jerks. Things are not going to get better, the whole trend by government is to withdraw from rational and moral behaviour in their dealings with poorer citizens.
