PSNA appeals to government to initiate international call for a “no-fly” zone over Gaza

The Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa has this morning written to the Foreign Minister Winston Peters requesting New Zealand initiate the call for an internationally enforced “no-fly” zone over Gaza.

PSNA Co-Chair John Minto says this would be a small but practicable step to blunt Israel’s continuing genocidal attacks on Palestinians.

“Gaza is recognised under international law, and by the New Zealand government, as part of the illegally Occupied Palestinian Territory. As such, Israel’s intrusion into Gaza airspace is illegal, and is elevated to a war crime when its aircraft attack Palestinian civilians there to further what the International Court of Justice has described as a “plausible genocide”.

John Minto says the United Nations has repeatedly said there are no safe places in Gaza for Palestinian civilians, where even so-called “safe zones” are systematically attacked as Israel terrorises the population to flee from the territory.

“Suggestions for a no-fly zone have been made in the past but there has never been a better time for a concerted international effort to enforce such a zone over Gaza”.

“In the week leading up to Anzac Day there is no better time for New Zealand to stand up and be counted.

“New Zealanders from past conflicts, including in that very region in 1917 and 1918, have died in vain if today’s politicians refuse to speak out to end the death and destruction in Gaza.”

  1. ‘Israel is fully entitled under International Law to attack legitimate military targets, viz. the vicious amoral Hamas terrorists who started the war and embed amongst civilians. ‘
Damned right! Gaby! There are, after all, those examples from the past.
The Great German Reich needed to liberate their people in the Sudetenland from the constant harassment of Czech terrorists. Those poor German settlers in Bohemia were surrounded by hostile populations of inferior races who insisted they ‘ go back to your own country’.
In the end it was necessary for German forces to make armed interventions and then, as now, other countries stood aside and allowed ‘ might is right’ to triumph because they believed the nazis were a stabilising force against communist terrorism.
In Poland too the German people were outraged by the sufferings of German settlers in that country and the border incursions that killed German citizens.
(Later discovered to be nazi propaganda but by then Poland was carved up and millions killed).
Strange too that the Nazis never succeeded in being loved by the people they oppressed. But Gaby is doubtless right and Israel knows what it is doing. Keep killing Palestinians of all ages (because those bombs and shells know who is Hamas and who is not) and the problem will go away.
Some really mean people have suggested to me that Gaby is a nazi and I have told them that is ridiculous.
She is a Zionist and they wear Star of David instead of swastikas.

  2. John, the reason why your campaign hasn’t got traction, and is fizzing out, is because the Palestinians are holding hostages. The glory days of taking and ransoming hostages was back in the 60s. Until they release the hostages, and by extension, put the hostage taking days behind them, they will feel the pain and suffer the consequences.

    • How would you know whether our campaign has got traction or not, come on answer that one, the money flows in all the time and the database rises on a daily basis.

    • Ever actually taken the time to do anything for humanity/
      organised a rally
      signed a petition
taken a petition around the motu?

      Do tell.

  3. ‘the screaming head is sadly still screaming… is minto the biggest twat in nz or what'(?) (For Christ’s sake use punctuation.)
Trumpet, the answer to that is found when you look into the mirror.

  4. And the Germans killed the Jews, and the Jews killed the Arabs and the Arabs killed the hostages and that is the news. Perfect sense by Roger waters released in the year 2000 who is accused of “Antisemitism”

  5. The IDF is not “the most moral army in the world “ as is sometimes claimed. That title belongs to Cuba’s FAR, which under the command of Fidel Castro in Cuba’s Revolutionary War purposely set an example by never involving civilians, never taking hostages, and treating captured prisoners humanely. That units of the IDF have in the fog of war committed acts such as that of March 23 that can be defined as war crimes is undeniable. But that doesn’t change the fact that Israel is fighting a war of self defence against an enemy intent on destroying it.

The most encouraging development of recent weeks, ignored by Hamas apologists here and internationally, is the growing number of protests against Hamas by ordinary Palestinians in Gaza.

  6. The IDF commander directly responsible for the cold-blooded massacre of paramedics in Rafah has been identified, as ,

Let’s make this mass murderer famous.
