It is a terribly sad indictment on woke middle class activists that the millisecond they gained a measure of social power they wasted it on sacking people for not agreeing to trans dogma, mispronunciation of Te Reo or for suggesting female comedians aren’t that funny.

My frustration at their alienating tactics aside, erasing people with revenge legislation is despicable Lynch mob politics and everyone of us as decent citizens should stand against Lynch mobs.

Gender identity is a difficult issue, and it deserves far more respect from both sides, but those were arguments made back in 2016 when the woke were too caught up in their orgy of cancel culture to pay attention to the backlash their puritanical ‘activism’ was generating.

    It’s like we shouldn’t care if someone is gay or lactose intolerant.

    It’s none of our business and we should stay the hell out of it.

  4. True. I also follow that line when I advocate not dropping threshholds. This at 5% and some advocate 4%, and would that give us better politics? No. The way we run society is full of lies and exceptions to the ‘rule’ and people must be adept at seeking to remain balanced and with a steady eye on what is fair and needed. We can fall so easily. (Israel made this mistake and have brought about an intransigent situation because of that – they have 3.25%)

Who cares why have a small group of women put my future and my daughters future into the hands of gray stale pale males in women’s wigs. Wouldn’t these women be better off fighting legal battles for equality, prevention of violence against women, nurturing their children who may or may not be gender diverse, gay or lesbian. This Harry Potter woman and her mates do not speak for me so what gives them the right to go to court supposedly on my behalf to change a law affecting me as a woman

    • Circular argument I think Not – better watch out when you come to the end which is dark and more confusing than your supposed reasoning. Harry Potter’s author believes in women being that and knowing it. Knowing something for sure is very strengthening. So if you could work out something as being definitely right in your own and most other people’s minds, and hold onto it for balance and strength it will brace you.

  7. As a gay man I think everyone should be free to be whoever they want as long as they aren’t hurting people and are over the age of 18.

    Most people will atleast try and be respectful.

    However, while I don’t like that Winston is doing this for political reasons there’s absolutely an argument for some kind of legislation being necessary on the issue of sex v gender.

    same sex organizations and clubs, charities and support groups should be able to limit their members to people of the biological sex if that’s what the members and organization wants.

    If women’s sports teams don’t want MTF trans women on their team, fine. If gay male saunas don’t want FTM trans men at their venues because their clientele don’t want it, fine, if domestic violence shelters ever decide they don’t want trans woman at their shelters, fine. If mens support groups wanna be limited to biological men, fine.

    There are obviously better examples than the ones I’m making but I think there should be exemptions to certain organizations from having to accept members who are biologically the opposite sex of its membership.

    compromise is the only way we are going to be able to move on from this issue.

    There does need to be some clarity on this and only the courts and parliament can provide it.

    Certain organizations and charities retaining the right to discriminate based off biological sex in special circumstances is ok and in some examples necessary.

    • I think that sounds sensible and fair Corey. It used to be that women were kept out of much in society, that Jews were not able to join society organisations in usa and elsewhere – plenty of demeaning attitudes abounded.

      Things have improved but it is always good to be able to mingle with those one feels relaxed with. Maybe it would be wise to socially interact at times. Intersex toilets I don’t agree with. If I got stuck and there wasn’t one available for me, I would like to be able to ask for permission to use the other ‘s; if reasonableness and acceptance of difference was usual there would be few problems.

      But this encouragement to reject one’s own gender even when tinies or even when teenage, and such a to-do about it, has been a disadvantage to society. It’s not something to be Proud about by those who have instigated it.
