Political Octogenarian and grumpy granddad who gets tricked by Russian disinformation scams, Winston Peters, is leading his war on woke because his anti-vaxx conspiracy theories and anti-Māori dog whistles can’t get any traction over David Seymour’s canine trumpet.
You would barely know that Shane Jones and Winston are currently attempting to strip the Treaty out of all legislation because David Seymour has taken all the news oxygen with his Treaty Principles Referendum.
NZF have attacked the Trans Community and attempted to sate the anti-vaxxers but they are still just above the 5% threshold.
By starting his ‘war on woke’ Winston hopes to regain some of his reactionary fervour because bashing Māori, the trans community and vaccines isn’t enough in todays reactionary redneck electorate.
Borrowing culture war talking points from MAGA shouldn’t be celebrated, it should be punished.
The hypocrisy that his own Party constitution has diversity as an important goal…
…should shame Winston into silence, but we all know NZFirst literally has no shame.

Winston and Shane are timing their political resurrection and are watching the world of woke being dismantled globally and knows there’s votes in it from disgruntled Labour, National and ACT voters and everybody who is scared shitless of the Greens and TPM. Opportunistic? definitely.

Neither Peters , Jones, nor Seymour, would have a clue about the meaning of the term ‘woke’ ….just their own tiny mind reckons that they have running around in their heads.
I would love to see a journalist ask any of them to give to N.Z. their definition of the term ‘woke’ so we can all hear their pathetic answers about sushi, diversity, etc…ugh…. god they are pathetic and childish!
If anyone is ‘woke’ it is they who keep going on about ‘woke’.

Anyone wanting a definition of woke need look no further than the frivolous City Council of Wellington, where the rates are double that of Auckland, and where the wants of the alphabet community transcend silly little things like plain language usage, sewage dispersal, water supply, neighbourhood geysers and electricity infrastructure, and where quietly desperate citizens wake up wondering if a sinking ship might be more commonsense sort of place to be clinging to.
That is not ‘woke’…that is poor infrastructure management going back decades and an obsession over keep rates down combined with not biting the bullet and making the required and necessary expense outlays just so people can get voted back in again.
