The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Genocide in Gaza
Why is there no mention anywhere in the mainstream media?
It is not a genocide?
Are the Israelis not destroying a people in ‘Whole or in Part’? (the official definition of genocide)
Despite denying the UN and other aid agencies evidence that Israel cuts off aid to Palestinians in Gaza, that it never does this. Israel has announced that it has cut off all food, water, fuel and medical aid for the 1.3 million people remaining in Gaza, (1,3 million is the figure Donald Trump keeps claiming live in Gaza. The last census taken in Gaza totaled over 2.1 million people. Is President Trump privy to secret US intelligence information as to the true extent of Israel’s killing spree?)
Whatever the figure, denying the means to life to more than a million people is a war crime amounting to genocide.
Why is none of this being discussed, in the media sphere, except by a tiny few left vloggers?

Adrian Orr resigns, Greg Foran resigns – here’s hoping there’ll be a few more masters and mistresses of the Universe. MoBIE, ACC, Health and one or two others just for starters.
Let’s hope they fuck off to Trump’s Umerika – better still – Mongolia unless they can find some specimens willing to donate their imaginations.

It seems that little can be done in the many small needs-alleviation in the present to help people who are suffering now, but if you complain enough about being hurt decades ago, the system will listen and apologise.
If people with past abuse, can only put their energies into helping similar ones in the present, and thinking of ways that the situation can be prevented from recurring, then we might be able to improve conditions. But people have to stop reviving the trauma, deliberately. The past had its own time for repairs and needs to be filed away not hauled out as an example of shame; there have been many others right to the present moment.

Local Government NZ I think, should take note of this fire connected with rubbish burning. They might like to issue a caution to damned councils who are trying the sleight of hand of reducing rubbish from the public by removing rubbish bins and decreasing collections – so they can meet their zero targets! sooner no doubt.
If we had sensible, rational and practical councils’ administrators working for the citizens who fund them, instead of overpaid mosquitoes drawing our life blood to enable their commitment to some expensive plaza or building for the enjoyment of those who have money and time to go round the nation and indeed the world, scattering crumbs to the natives who are barely able to exist – then we would have a world for real people.
End of rant!
Gwynne Dyer covers a lot of territory in our minds and the world. Good thinking usually!

How does a government act that is cold and callous and critical of anyone not managing and having dropped under the appropriate line in the eyes of those still managing? This is a fining fault-finding abrupt regime. When there is no money to fine what can they do? Pack the children into people pods and send them down the river like Moses in a basket? He was found by a princess I think.
This case – The case has been going through the court for the past four years. The woman’s partner will be sentenced next month.

Today she was in court to find out if she would be jailed, or be able to continue her rehabilitation at the Grace Foundation in Auckland.
The Crown summary of facts detailing the offending stretches six pages, detailing how the children’s dire living state was uncovered, the unsanitary and cold conditions they were living in, and also assessments by a paediatrician of the children carried out six months after the family was found.
“Significant concerns” were noted, including inadequate or poor nutrition, clothing worn for days so were grimy and stains, and were holed so badly that they needed to be thrown away, unpleasant odours and that the children were “visibly dirty, grime under finger and toenails”.
Going on for how many years through the Courts? This is the real face of NZ that is suffering the dreadful government’s hateful regime against low income people. Trying to manage, with difficulties mounting can break you. Kindness would ensure that some practical help was provided immediately. Taking someone to Court and shaming them is not helpful.
And remember that the gummint has had trouble speaking out against the Israelis that are bringing down the wrath of God, in their own minds, on Palestinians. What cause have our government/s thought up to reduce some to constant poverty? What’s their reason to be so happy in the face of people’s difficulties such as getting vicious women like Nicola Willis, Ruth Richardson to smile and flaunt their cleverness, supposed, to the public as being willing to sock it to ’em (along with Judith Collins also).
Kindness and avoidance of viciousness and the devastating putdown FGS – just sigh and offer a cup of tea and a biscuit and see what the person can manage over the next week which would then lead to a longer time plan. Give the family a few days break in an adventure park where they all have to have showers, clean clothes, comb out, treat any nits etc. – have a big meet and work out a plan for the next few days that fills immediate needs. Get some sun a walk, good sleep and no tv; cellphones for no more than an hour, all to be returned to safe-
keeping by the responsible adults..
A new future in a different area, with some goals, paying jobs and a regular bit of fun. Learn to play the guitar for all the older children. I would donate guitars if they would be kept away safely till needed. One doesn’t become a saint in any short time! Bend the twig and affect the growth of the tree.
And all the imagined good Christians in this country who think that living life as tidy middle class people minding their own affairs, is the epitome of spiritual and human goodness and sanctity! Think the Good Samaritan story will illustrate, with the mother as the ‘neighbour’ in need.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Good_Samaritan
The parable of the Good Samaritan is told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke.[1] It is about a traveler (implicitly understood to be Jewish) who is stripped of clothing, beaten, and left half dead alongside the road. A Jewish priest and then a Levite come by, both avoiding the man. A Samaritan happens upon him and, though Samaritans and Jews were generally antagonistic toward each other, helps him. Jesus tells the parable in response to a provocative question from a lawyer in the context of the Great Commandment: “And who is my neighbor?” The conclusion is that the neighbor figure in the parable is the one who shows mercy to their fellow man or woman.
Some Christians, such as Augustine, have interpreted the parable allegorically, with the Samaritan representing Jesus Christ, who saves the sinful soul.[2] Others discount this allegory as unrelated to the parable’s original meaning[2] and see the parable as exemplifying the ethics of Jesus…
