The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

…Treasury says there has been an “encouraging ” response from the private sector for alternative Cook Strait ferry procurement options….
The mention of rail-enabled ferries is notable given that one of the biggest sticking points for KiwiRail’s new Interislander ferries has been whether they will be rail-enabled.
The ferries Willis announced were rail-compatible, meaning containers are removed from the rail wagons by a vehicle that then loads them on to the ferries.
Peters has said rail-enabled ferries should be in the mix, meaning trains can drive directly on to the ferries and off again, making for a seamless transition for freight across Cook Strait.
GETS said further information would only be provided to eligible private sector parties based on a non-disclosure agreement to protect commercially sensitive and confidential information.
“Eligible parties are experienced maritime transport operators or infrastructure investors.”
A Treasury spokesman said the response to the alternative market proposals process and ongoing engagement with international shipyards has been encouraging.
“Once the market sounding process closes, the Treasury will assess the applications and prepare advice for ministers. …
The Treasury! They should be called the Misery!! Misers when looking at the practical, useful things that would assist NZAO to survive into difficult times, but, finding it more economically viable for themselves, being open-handed to ‘investors’ who want to drop in a borrowed sixpence and pick out a pound for themselves. Not investing but gambling – with fixed outcomes.

It seems that Wellington Harbourmaster Nalder has the job of advising the passengers of the ferries where they stand; still on land! He should be paid the PMs wage and the PM be paid that of a rookie in a company that is in dire straits.
Equestrians and their horses heading north for Horse of the Year, which starts in Hawke’s Bay on Monday, were among those stuck in the South Island.
Shaun Ashton’s wife,14-year-old daughter and her horse had travelled up from Christchurch and were due to on the 7.30am Friday sailing from Picton.
Ashton said it was “piss poor” that he was informed of its cancellation three minutes after the Bluebridge call centre closed on Thursday night.
“There’s a lot of people sitting at the equestrian park in Blenheim, scrambling, trying to figure out what they’re going to do,” he said.
“You can’t just park up somewhere and just wait, because you’ve got a horse sitting in a float.”
Thanks to the “amazing” work of a Bluebridge staff member on Friday morning, the pair had been re-booked for Friday afternoon.
But Ashton would only cancel the Interislander booking he made for Saturday – just in case – when they were on board and setting sail, he said…

…The childcare centre had been served a 90 days’ notice to vacate which was to expire in May, but only this week it was revealed that suspected black mould in another part of the building – not used by the centre – was the reason behind the notice.
The Ministry of Education then stepped in to close Waitara & District Community Childcare almost immediately, leaving staff shellshocked and local parents stranded without childcare, he said.
“Early childhood centres keep getting treated like they don’t matter.
“We believe LINZ knew about the suspected black mould in their part of the building as far back as 2019, and yet they took no steps to manage it or disclose it to our provider until yesterday.
“They’ve effectively terminated this treasured community childcare centre without compassion, transparency or taking responsibility,” said Laube.,,

Chris Bishop getting head pats for this no doubt.
In a speech to the Local Government New Zealand conference on Friday, Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop, said councils not zoning enough housing land was one problem, but so is the cost of infrastructure to support housing expansion.
A regulator will be set up to govern new pre-set levies – replacing ‘Development Contributions’ that currently don’t allow councils to recover the full costs of associated infrastructure.
Ratepayers have been left picking up the bill instead of the beneficiaries of the infrastructure, Bishop said.
“Put simply, you can’t have housing without land, water, transport, and other community infrastructure. It’s a package,” he said…
Caution, fairness and practicality will have entered the system and also trying to keep to a stable set of priorities and requirements. But National will want those swept away, and in the long run real citizens will be the losers, not the later ones that marry to get residence, then drop their partners overnight almost etc.

We must put this, laid out on newspaper, and have it while it’s hot; our own
fish/n/chips. However it may prove to be a form of cannibalism, ugh.
