There is a yawning gap in our society between attitudes to human sexual drives – one the managed, mannered legalisation, represented by those who are ultimately ‘sexist’. Then there is the use of reasonable humane guidelines for behaviour that are good for individuals, respectful of this life force within us. We need to be knowledgeable and discriminating about it; gradually from childhood and fully when we reach puberty – about its effect on individuals including the inextricable emotions, usually considered expressions of affection, and the drive itself for action and experience, stronger than that seemingly forcing people to run multiple marathons. Do we understand this mania? Some would posit as displacement theory?
