NZ could be the first frontline in China/American Pacific friction

Chairman Xi and President Trump

With China’s encroachment into the Cook Islands and its increasing influence in Kiribati, New Zealand is quickly becoming the new friction frontline between China and America.

The Americans will demand to know how a 5 Eyes Member was blindsided by China in the Cooks and the millisecond Trump is told NZ won’t allow nuclear ships here, you can see how Trump may perceive sending a nuclear powered and armed ship directly into Wellington harbour would play out a s message of dominance to the Chinese WHILE slapping us as well.

Trump will see our military spend as pitiful, he despises Jacinda and he gets to look tough in the eyes of China by forcing us to accept a nuclear war ship.

Will Luxon stand up to Trump when he calls to tell him he’s sending a nuclear ship while threatening us with Tariffs if we don’t accept it?

Like fuck he will, Luxon will roll over in a heartbeat.

We have always played this game between our Economic Overlords (China) and our Political Masters (America) at some stage we either become a vassal for Xi or Trump OR we stand on our own two feet and have a truly independent foreign policy.

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

  1. Trump probably knows New Zealand’s position re nuclear ships. We’re an isolated non-cerebral little country with limited defence and military forces, and not worth worrying about. Past history suggests that whenever America says, “ Roll over” we do so, all the way into Afghanistan ( thanks, Helen), Iraq ( thanks, John). Whether Luxon will be bellowing “Get some guts,” isn’t even a moot point. He’s rich, he’s sorted, he, Luxon’ll serve his own interests just as they all do, while the local populace is busy pathetically hating on each other because “ divide and rule” is quite an effective political tool.

  2. Im not so sure that “anti-nuclear” is still the third rail of New Zealand politics. Time (and the focus groups) will tell. . .

    • … would that be one of the pay-offs of the wikileaks revelation of NZ media being paid propagandists for America?,,,, Henry.

Hate Russia, Hate China ,,,, Love the usa and NATO…. Our media tells us so.

  3. Good. We need every single hostile American base out of New Zealand. The two spy bases, the Rocket Lab missile site out of Mahia, and the embassy and consulate gone.

  4. Each tiny pacific island comes with a small population, ridiculously cheap economic needs and a huge economic zone ripe for exploitation. As capitalism plays out it’s inevitable conclusion the super powers will intensify their fight to control dwindling resources. The collapse of world order will be sudden and it will be total.

  5. We are too institutionally aligned with the USA, as well as psychologically and culturally. Whilst many call for cutting the umbilical it won’t happen. Which means we must grow up, and walk with the States into a multipolar world. They will be dragged there, our best interests are to aid and cajole them.

  6. America demanding how NZ is blind sided by China is a bit rich considering they are literally putting a Russian mole Tulsi Gabbard as head of their National intelligence.

BTW the AI pic is creepily rough.

  7. Good – the yanks can fuck off – and so can the pandas. NZ should be tooling up for it’s own defense and deterrence.
