David Seymour kicks off first day of Treaty bill submissions
Political Science Professor Bronwyn Hayward said she was opposed to the bill in its entirety.
In particular, she was concerned about the framing of the debate, Hayward said.
The bill had let a “small and extreme libertarian view within a party set policy direction that’s now well outside of the position of median NZ voters”.
In an amazing day of blistering critiques against this race baiting political stunt, one of the most important insights was made by Political Science Professor Bronwyn Hayward.
She noted the point that when academics were reviewing if there was any danger to Democracy in our MMP system, it was noted that the only real threat to NZ Democracy was a scenario where a Minority Party with no wide spread support tricked or forced a larger party to adopt radical policy as part of a Government negotiation process which is exactly what Chris Luxon did!
Let’s remember, this racist jamboree is all on Luxon!
You were tricked into believing Luxon wq s the great deal maker, yet he allowed this 6 month hate tour by getting played by Seymour.
The quick yellow fox jumped all over the lazy blue log.

Luxon is still telling everyone that this is all fine because he will vote the legislation down at first reading but that’s a meaningless defence because he’s allowing such a divisive debate despite claiming it won’t happen!
He allowed this to happen because he was desperate to become PM, he wasn’t the great negotiator he claimed and this is all on him and National!
This racist hatred inspired and promoted by the Right most be condemned, not celebrated.

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Yes Luxon is as thick and lazy as 2 short planks and the voters who voted for him and his cohorts should be ashamed because they were more interested in greed than need. The chickens are all coming home to roost with this cluster f**k of a government. Willis is supposed to be minister of finance but she obviously forgot the economy stupid hence she’s going to try and fix what she’s been breaking all year.
I am not sure you can call Luxon Lazy.
I am no fan but he is more a `work-a-holic’ who does a lot but achieves very little.
A variation to the Ardern `talk-a-lot’ but achieve even less.
Luxon doesn’t read….tgat is why he is never across the detail at press conferences….
Ardern did a lot of reading…hence her success managing Covid and overseeing a recovering economy post Covid …
…Unlike Luxon who didn’t do any homework, ignored all
economist’s advice and thus
managed to tank the economy
in just 12 months.
Luxon may or may not get up early but so what…it’s what he does with that time…he’s either dumb, lazy, or, a slow learner…
Some people are unteachable…hubris and/ or a lack of intelligence in certain areas gets in the way…
Glad he didn’t try and become a
pilot.
He does next to nought.
Getting up at 4.30 and bathing in asp’s milk while scanning NewstalkZB with a lazy eye waiting for a word of praise is not what any of us call work.
I voted for National as did many others because they saw the mess Labour was getting us into with no plan to stop the inflation that was destroying businesses and people. Those suffering the most was the poor who Labour was supposed to protect. After 6 years they had little to brag about that they had achieved and GST off fruit and veg was their best offer..
Bollocks Trevor. There was a plan, and just like National they would not have been able to claim success for reducing imported inflation, which of course idiots like Willis and Luxon have. As for government spending there was also reduction built in for Labour which Willis has acknowledged when it suits her. Why don’t you actually read Trevor
Trevor is like our PM selective when it suits
And yet the country is now struggling for teachers and health care workers because National have driven them overseas and those living in poverty and on the benefit have increased because of National’s unemployment policies. After 2 years the best offer from National was to cripple the country.
Luxon will pay for enabling this. The Right in National will sneer at him for having no backbone and failing to support Seymour. The centrists in National will sneer at him for having no backbone and allowing the charade. All the weeping and gnashing of teeth for a vanity project costing millions. It’s the flag all over again. Luxon has a few soft skills but is no politician.
The truth is this abysmal excuse for a govt fronted by the weakest and most ill prepared PM in NZ history and comprised of a mixture of totally incompetent players and a few obvious bad actors are rapidly taking the country down the gurgler. The finance minister is a complete but sad joke and although has a qualification in English literature has huge problems doing basic sums. Willis should stick to family night movie outings with debates on what ice-cream flavour to buy. Seymour is the bad actor glove puppet who cannot hide behind the smarmy grin that tries to disguise the hand that moves his lips. Winston is the only one with any credentials left worth listening too, but he better have a cunning plan to sort this CoC out otherwise he goes down in history as just another could have been.
Very well observed and articulated…
Spot on Neil, the righties hate the truth.
Willis , Luxon, Seymour, Peter’s….none of them will be fixing anything…
They are breaking records though…
They’ve fucked the economy and race relations for the next 10 – 15
years…all in the space of one year…
Credit where credit is due!
I’m all for the treaty principal bill, I don’t think it will get a fair hearing. No more of a fair hearing than the campers at Motutere bay Taupo. Council decision. run by un elected maori for maori. The most undemocratic decision and unfair. maori seam to think they are the only ones in NZ the have a culture, Have a history, have a story to tell. even if is fictitious
