We all want people to have the full agency of their lives and providing puberty blockers for those who are transitioning is what a decent civil society allows, endorses and fully funds like any public health issue, but that demands scientific rigour of treatment and the Cass Review was very clear that giving children puberty blockers doesn’t have the kind of guidelines and scrutiny that it actually demands, and when you consider the stats of use in NZ…
…that does demand review.
The Greens position however seems to be framed that any restrictions on puberty blockers is some kind of hate crime.
This is going to explode in the Greens faces if they are not careful and actually review the evidence and not the Identitarian talking points.
If the Greens really think Intersectionist dogma on gender is the smart play here, I’d like to introduce you to NZF.
Winston has shown that he is more than happy to whip up transphobia for votes and he has been helped because the Woke always create the culture war ammunition for him to shoot back at them!
He is sadistically threatening Community sports funding if any player is trans FFS!
Now, I am the first to argue that the manner in which the Trans Community and their non-binary 4th wave feminist allies have gone about alienating the entire Left wing movement to the point of driving voters into the arms of the Right, has been a tad devastating to our movement and that Identity Politics ruled by Pure Temple exclusion as opposed to Broadchurch solidarity has fucked us to the point that we will never again gain the 51% democratic majority again, but their super powers to alienate aside, the Trans community and those that wish to identify as non-binary are still, you know, human beings with intrinsic human rights that you can’t just erase eh?
So just pause and reflect how crazy shit goin’ to git when Winston has a trans issue that has some legitimacy to it.
Threatening public funding for community sports groups if you allow a trans player is extremely hateful and utterly disproportionate to the supposed threat of including trans/non-binary people in the first place, so imagine the field day Winston is going to have if the Greens try to make the Select Committee Meeting a platform to lecture on puberty blockers when the scientific review into the use of them is demanding regulation because there are really big questions over their use.
Winston is destructive at the best of times, give him the kind of fuel that the Cass Review does and he’s a supernatural force of nature.
Can the Greens do this without handing Winston enormous culture war ammunition?

The harm associated with puberty blockers, and “gender-affirming care” in general is real and amounts to child abuse and grievous bodily harm.

Of course they won’t back down. This is who they now are as a party. It’s the ideology of their party leaders and the hierarchy underneath them.
What I’m not sure is if they actually believe it, or have just found a niche to own in the electorate.
Brand extension is an always failing strategy. The population look to the Greens to use their parliamentary power to protect the environment. How is the huge distraction of transing for less than half percent of the population going to mitigate climate change.
Let the doctors and psychiatrists sort it out with those affected in private. Its the medical council and health journos job to stop any unfortunate experiment doctors. Why would the Greens want to jump into bed with Big Pharma looking for $billions rather than look to ‘first do no harm’.
The Greens are toast as an environment party. Left to their own devices they’d be spending money on putting speakers in the forest to play whale songs to kauri trees and they would claim it is legitimate science and anyone who disagrees is a waycist.
The Greens have given up on the environment because it’s hard. Identity is low hanging fruit and they won’t give it up. Shame because identity is for extremists.
This is just nuts, I received the petition for signing and it is the first petition of theirs that I would never ever sign.

Meanwhile InsideOUT and its ilk contribute to social contagion by teaching young people that not liking 1950sesque sex stereotypes means you’re likely trans. The Greens are leading a homophobic and sexist resurgence while waving a stripey flag.
