Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.
The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Blshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Well done PM Luxon curtailing an overseas trip to return for Snr Sergeant Lyn Fleming’s funeral in Nelson on Thursday. Blue ribbons around my letterbox in tribute to a good and brave woman mindlessly murdered on New Year’s day, 2025.

Why don’t we take charge then? Have groups of cars escorted over the road and forbidden to get out of line. Toot horn and stop for anybody in trouble. Emergency vehicle ready to jack up and confiscate car until fixed and paid for. There is a time to get tough and lead the way with good action, for everybody’s good. Pathetic systems at present, and quite unprepared for the difficulties we surely face.
(I put the piece about fire because that is an emergency that we are seeing. What can we do to help alleviate that problem. Alleviation note, not prevention; that one was always hard and now too late to contemplate; so don’t hate just cogitate and activate. Sorry – word salad there!)
Face up NZ, let LA be an example of unpreparedness we don’t want to follow.
…Now, the halftime air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
‘Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
…
Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So, come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
‘Cause fire is the Devil’s only friend
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died…
Don McLean was prescient.

But will he be in Hawaii, Te Puke or Nelson? Hard to keep track of his whereabouts.
