The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

IIRR the first Prime Minister of modern India Jawaharlal Nehru* was quoted on my desk calendar decades ago. that left to themselves people who have the opportunity to choose, follow each other.
Further from this thoughtful man.
The future belongs to science and those who make friends with science.
Evil unchecked grows, evil tolerated poisons the whole system.
Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.
The forces in a capitalist society, if left unchecked, tend to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Something needs to be done with unemployed or underemployed youth of late teenage. Put on a seasonal work roster, and training in the meantime in their favourite sport, and encouraged to work towards a personal goal. Keep them busy, off the streets, close the pubs earlyish say 11 pm. Have them closed part-day also. They drag each other into trouble, so keep them away from it. learn personal drive, self-control, personal ideals and methods of managing their relationships with others who won’t like their choosing difference at times. Especially over refusing big drinking sessions.

This is one of the most telling and hard-hitting journalistic forays this year. A splendid end to 2024 and heralding the start of something for next year and perhaps a somebody who isn’t simply a close horse for female designer suits in bright colours. We want more for our $300,000. See this discussed on Scoop.

Remember those silent movies where the heroine is tied to the railway tracks or going over the waterfall in a barrel? Finance Minister Nicola Willis seems intent on portraying herself as that damsel in distress. According to Willis, this country’s current economic problems have all been caused by the spending schemes cooked up by the dastardly and long-departed Grant Robertson, in cahoots with Treasury. So don’t blame her for the current state of the New Zealand economy. We appear to be paying her over $300,000 a year to wring her hands and blame everyone else for the country’s plight.
Really, how long does Willis think that this schtick – it was Labour! it was Treasury! – can be credible? (Isn’t it time she stepped up? We have opened two advent calendars since she got the job of running the economy.)…

This is amazing and kind. Now you have read it can you please give $100 to a food bank near you, give something every time you go to the supermarket to the food bank bin.
And write to the Minimum of Social Welfare and ask that food vouchers of $50 a week be handed out to all parents, and that Oranga Tamiriki ask mothers what they need most, second and third, and give it to them. Then call again in a week and ask if they would like to go to polytech and learn to make some new recipes and bring their children with them in a provided bus there and home. etc etc Let’s get emotional about humans, it’s a human thing to do. But remember they might have turned wary and dig their nails in unless they feel they can trust you.
