Gang patch ban: Police reveal action taken on day one

Several gang members were arrested across the country yesterday, while others received court summons as the Government’s new gang patch ban came into effect.

Ummmm, you all get that the Gangs will legally challenge all of this right?

That they will take these arrests and challenge them all the way to the Supreme Court by arguing this law breaches the NZ Bill of Rights.

This entire fiasco is bullshit and a political stunt that will ultimately be defeated in the Courts.

Not before Luxon demands some over the top symbolic gesture that will get out of hand quickly.

This gang patch ban won’t make anyone safer, it won’t have any real impact on the Meth trade and it will ultimately get challenged in Court.

If you want to stop people becoming gang members, there is one secret silver bullet.

80% of gang members were children abused in State Care!

If you want less gang members, STOP ABUSING CHILDREN IN STATE CARE!

It really is as simple as that.

  1. Jeez, that new Plod Commissioner looks AI generated–a face only the proverbial could love–drug test him immediately!

The blue bellies were obviously ordered to go in hard at midnight on day one of the ridiculous and undemocratic “Snatch the Patch” law. Tough on crime? er…no…try calling if you get burgled, or are a migrant worker forced to live in a shipping container. It is merely reactionary posturing for Natzo voters.

A number of people need to wake up and support gang members, re the right to Freedom of assembly, association and speech–because GreenPeace, Union, Communist, Palestine Solidarity and Māori activist insignia will clearly be next.

There are two categories of gang–nasty businesses via the 501 debacle, and decades old Mighty Mongrel Mob and Mangu Kaha which are well embedded particularly in rural communities. But both have to be supported if they get their act together and mount legal challenges.

  2. Wedge Politics

    Noun

A strategy or pattern of behavior by a politician, political party, or advocacy group which is intended to have a divisive effect on one’s political opponents or on the electorate especially by emphasizing an issue which polarizes opinion…..

Is this the thin edge of the Wedge?

Should we tolerate banning gang members from wearing a patch, because some gang members commit crime?

Would we tolerate banning women of Islamic faith from wearing a Hijab, because some Muslims commit acts of terrorism?

Would we tolerate banning nuns of Catholic faith from wearing a whimple, because some Catholic clergy have abused children?

    The success of Wedge Politics:

Would any opposition party dare to campaign for election with a promise to reverse the patch ban?

Right Wing Wedge Politics – 1

    Liberal Democracy – zero
