The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Support this NZ company FGS. Visit, buy goods, and groceries. So we have a bit of NZ spending keeping our efforts and earnings in THIS country.

This then creates an opportunity for locals to fund a simple double sheet with adverts as possible to fund a bigger paper. They can pay for their sport results, news from local doings, and have a space for ideas, short and explained. Some funds set up for local initiatives that then get reported on to assess for success. And just news about good and bad happenings and notes about place and time for regular get-togethers for locals to attend at pub or cafe and discuss life and stuff.
It would be kept simple and affordable and provide work experience for those with word ability who would gain an understanding of community which is diverse and complex and it would show the truth of the saying that “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”It would be a strength bringing together the people of the rohe/area.

The govt could encourage older people to live together by reforming the 2001 relationships act for older people. Many older divorcies never get remarried or cohabit.
And they could be encouraged to earn a bit extra, and do some volunteer work, men or women. Many have active minds – and could mentor, help kids with homework, adults with reading, or have physical skills and make things, help with sports, etc and hopefully be trusted not to carry on power trips or sexually inappropriate ways. Just being old doesn’t mean that people are good through and through of course.
But a lot could be done, but it won’t be because the government doesn’t get in to do anything for the people in general, it really is more to keep the other rotten bunch (in their estimation) out, and get the good dosh and contacts while in. The problem is that the conservationists have done such a good job in the country that they have driven all the weasels and ferrets into town. Damn them!

After WW2 there was interest in building up the country fit for heroes etc. Plunket served and mothers were visited. Now very limited. And this Parents Centre after 7? decades is closing. Citizens don’t count, even to have as low-paid menials as these can be imported, and a charge made. Soon you will have to pay fees to have children. The money charge will be based on not allowing cost to fall on future people. As they use as the excuse for building up ACC coffers.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/530961/acc-announces-7-point-2-billion-deficit
ACC records $7.2 billion deficit, compared to last year’s $911 million surplus
The deficit was largely driven by an $8.7b increase in the expected future costs of injury claims on ACC’s books
(These costs are notional surely, and open to hyperbole.)
Sept.11/24 https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/527687/acc-proposes-rises-in-levies-to-fund-future-injury-costs
ACC says rising injury numbers and costs need levy increases
Consulting on rises to to all major levies groups – motorist, employer, worker
Motor levies average annual 7.5 percent a year for next three years
Employer levies average annual rise around 4.5 percent
Worker levies average annual rise 4.5 percent
Suggested tweaks would increase levies for some classes of motorcycle, and ballet dancers…
And earlier – a botch-up in what should be a government well-run organisation! But now somehow a PPP model and the hospital system is being experimented with similarly I think.

Aug.2021 https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/448784/overwhelmed-acc-staff-dropping-like-flies-after-changes
ACC spent $74 million to move to what it calls “Next Generation Case Management” in order to increase productivity and make ACC more “client centric”, but union members say it’s having the opposite effect.
The country is sick all right. I think it actually is terminal when so many voters are prepared to go to the right, and show no interest in the loss of human resources at the citizen level and what all people need to flourish as Kiwis,. Selling off housing for profit, using the accommodation supplement as a government benefit straight into landlords’ pockets, or holding empty housing while inflation pushes up value. Disgusting, disgraceful New Zealand behaviour, just shameful and amoral.
