Oh look at that, drug market dynamics as predicted by TDB – we need solutions not Gang Patch Bans

Wow. The exact drug dynamics TDB has spent 3 years warning about are here…

Annual survey shows changing state of New Zealand’s drug landscape

This year’s edition of an annual survey has shed light on the current state of New Zealand’s drug landscape — revealing long-term trends in drug availability, price, and use.

The findings showed “signs of a saturated methamphetamine market”, with prices dropping, while cocaine use and availability were increasing.

The 2024 New Zealand Drugs Trends Survey (NZDTS) also found that psychedelics were increasingly available in Aotearoa, while illegal cannabis was declining in price and was highly available.

“Another notable finding from the 2024 NZDTS is that the use of nicotine vapes has surpassed tobacco smoking for the first time among respondents.

…let’s understand why this is happening and what the solutions need to be.

Meth + cocaine:

Firstly, the NZ underworld has experienced a unique event, thousands of 501 Australians were deported to NZ.

Now, not ALL those 501s are criminals hardened and conditioned by the Australian crime culture. some were caught up in Australia’s moral panic and have been unfairly treated.

However the majority ARE hardened criminals who are far more sophisticated and violent than the NZ domestic gangs and have launched a take over off the NZ drug scene.

The domestic gangs sourced their drugs through Triads but the 501 syndicates have access to South American Cartels who use counter-intelligence tactics while selling a purer and cheaper meth.

That’s why the price has crashed, the 501 syndicates are bringing in a. cheaper and more pure product.

The 501 syndicates are also bringing in cocaine which the Triads the domestic Gangs were sourcing meth from don’t trade in much.

Cannabis:

Because you can now legally buy high grade medical cannabis from the Chemist Warehouse, the pressure has gone on the black market to lower their prices while lifting their products quality.

Medicinal cannabis is great for the middle classes, but the prices are too steep for the working classes and poor but because the middle class market has left the black market, it has forced prices down.

It’s a perverse outcome, middle class people caught with weed will point to their prescription, poor people who get caught don’t have that legal protection and get prosecuted.

MDMA:

The dark web allows for people to just buy this stuff online and because MDMA is pretty harmless, it means people are buying online for a product that is relatively harmless. The danger comes when there is so many synthetic drugs masquerading as a whole bunch of different other things. That MDMA you think you are getting could easily be something else.

Vaping:

Vaping was supposed to be a means to get cigarette smokers off ciggies and onto vapes. It has ended up being the new drug of choice for young people.

BOOZE:

Booze continues to be the most destructive drug in society.

Solutions:

Banning Gang Patches will do nothing.

We need a legal recreational market  for cannabis with ring fenced money from profits to fund long term rehabilitation programmes. This allows you to cope with meth addicts, cocaine addicts and alcohol addicts. It also gives the domestic gangs a means to sell specific strains of cannabis legally and enable an income that doesn’t require illegal drugs.

The heavy handed police tactics  we saw in Opotiki aimed at domestic gangs needs to be used on the 501 syndicates because their connection with Cartels is actually destabilising. The SIS and GCSB should intercept international communications with the Chinese Mirror Banking associates that are allowing the transfer of money between the 501 syndicates and the Cartels.

We need a legal market for MDMA because the ease with which it can be bought online alongside the ease with which it can be swapped out fro something else is a real threat. We need drug testing at festivals to be far more wide spread.

We need to look at Hallucinogens to be legal inside therapy.

We need to remove vapes from sale immediately and have them available via prescription inside chemists instead.

We need to remove booze from Supermarkets and keep them inside booze retailers only.

We need new ideas for these new problems. Banning gang patches and allowing the black market to determine social outcomes is moronic.

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

  1. New Zealand also needs to build a society where getting shitfaced is not a default survival option. Hard worn that. . .

  2. Jesus Christ my grand kids are about to be bombarded by all of the shit above .The poor bugers its enough that they are going to be fed pig food for lunch and when they finish school there are all these arseholes wanting to kill them with drugs .
I wonder how many of the 10% rich pricks are in this up to their necks .

  3. Hows this for a solution ?Take all alcohol off all shelves along with vapes and tobacco on day one .Day two spend a billion on new border tech and prevent the dugs crossing the border where they all get into NZ .
Day 3 increase sentences for dealing to life with no parole .
    Problem solved .
In five years time that $billion will have been save with the reduction in crime and health problems .
But I guess it would be too hard because as a nation we are funded by the rich pricks who will lose billions because they cant sell alcohol and tobacco to the bottom feeders .
So yes its never going to happen because kiwis are a weak bunch and a push over for the rich pricks and the pupets they pay to be in government .

  4. Back from Canada(Alberta). Remember their model was what we were going to get here.Seemed like there were more cannabis shops than booze. $14 for 10 small joints – we knew what was in them so no surprises. No signs of depravity – did come across happy adults subtly enjoying themselves, no different from smoking a vape. How much tax have we missed because Labour was too scaredy to do the right thing. P.s. if you want some – illegal – pot here, ask a teenager (and they can probably hook you up with some worse stuff too). Time to join the adults and legalize the stuff.
