The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

I go on the website MetService and on it prominently is an advert for spices hung on the connection that they are ‘hot’. FGS there is everyone trying to sell you something everywhere under this neolib regime. There is great opportunity to have a simple vision of a well-known slogan on toilet rolls! Would be noticed when the attention is directed to the matter in hand.
There used to be a bed company that said they stand behind their beds. You might find it literally one of these days – when they develop holograms further. Say when you lie down there are various images that you can button-press for, writhing bodies, floating on cloud 9, soft breeze rustling leaves in a bluebell carpeted wood,. Remember developers you saw it here first and all royalties are to go to Mr he/ Martyn Bradbury. (Myself I’ll make an overdue donation soon btw.)
Who has been involved with this – sounds interesting, helpful? What has happened since? How are ordinary NZAI being advanced?
14.02.24 An announcement from Koi Tū Director Sir Peter Gluckman
https://informedfutures.org/new-forum-supports-conversations/
I am delighted to announce that Koi Tū will launch the Koi Tū Forum in April – a place for constructive dialogue about complex issues, one which will foster citizen engagement in decision-making for Aotearoa New Zealand’s future.
Nations globally are grappling with the challenges of conducting complex conversations on matters of national importance, and New Zealand is no different in this regard. There is growing concern about how we resolve issues that need non-partisan discussion and resolution, without further exacerbating social tensions.
Existing government processes struggle to address complex issues such as inequality, climate change, and ecological degradation, while the fast pace of modern life fosters expectations for rapid solutions that democratic processes often can’t meet.
Meant NZAO above. Bad fingers.
International gobble smokescreen so ‘citizens’ think ‘all is jake.’

The 2001 World Assembly of CIVICUS, held in Vancouver in August, was attended by more than 400 delegates from 90 countries. Reflecting the designation of 2001 as the international year of the volunteer, the theme of the conference was “Putting people at the centre: voluntary action shaping social and economic change”.
Does this apply to us? Sounds a reasonable sort of checklist.
How can you tell an educated person?

Were our marine engines more reliable before we had fuel injectors which were supposed to be better? Do we want such vulnerability rather than reliability even if it involves higher pollution?
We have to give priority to important transport and reduce cars on the road. (I say this in sorrow after being so long in a creeping road queue at 1st gear speed that my radiator blew up – a real blast!)

…The number of people leaving New Zealand has reached record levels this year, and the bulk have been aged 25 to 34.
Shamubeel Eaqub, an independent economist, said there was a risk that the population could become “lopsided” before long if the younger population was not maintained.
He said it could not be assumed that young people would be called on to pay for the increasing needs of the population….
Maybe old farts should be encouraged to take a sabbatical at 65 years, go on the pension and then take up more work, either personally or as a mentor. And give more women the opportunity to carry out social or other work if they want and can cope, also men, for pay and mentor young people who can choose who they are helped by etc.
We oldies are living longer getting so much of the medical expenses and my carers who help me a bit, say that some are using the gummint assistance like cleaner servants not just to maintain their surroundings. And older people are being used to fund these new retirement villages – property business again!
Confused about the multi-letter trade acronym that governs our efforts – largely – in NZAO?
Here is one contest.

NZ escalates long-running dairy trade dispute with Canada, triggers compulsory negotiations
10:21 am today Oct.18/24
Jo Moir, Political Editor @jo_moir
New Zealand has escalated its long-running dairy trade dispute with Canada by informing its government counterparts it is triggering compulsory negotiations.
Trade and Agriculture Minister Todd McClay alerted the Canadian government and other members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) early on Friday morning of the developments.
Under CPTPP dispute settlement process, mandatory negotiations must commence within 15 days of notification.
In September 2023, New Zealand won a trade dispute, which found Canada was breaching the agreement by blocking dairy exporters’ access to the Canadian market.
Canada had until May to change how it administered tariff rate quotas, but after it failed to rectify the situation, the call was made to take next steps….
“New Zealand takes its obligations under trade agreements seriously. The CPTPP is one of the highest quality agreements signed by a group of like-minded economies,” McClay said.
“Parties to the agreement understood the commitments they were making when the agreement was signed, and it is important they honour them.”
( Are the statements in bold correct? We are known liars (100% Pure) and the bindings that we writhe under that this treaty provides have gone a long way from us having autonomy in our country and affects other things than dairy.)

What now? I have a horrid feeling that I am watching NZAO flake away like crumbling paint on an old building. Noooooooooooooooooooo…………… We may have to rake some sort of remedial action before the awthorities gather together a force of AI robots and humans trained by them, or the other way round?
It seems that our set of values is in confusion. This is a simple one that Monty Python thought up for Australians. Perhaps we could adopt it and fairly quickly adapt it when we hit bottom. A simple six precepts – not too hard and some strengthening prayers.
No poofters.
No member of the faculty is to maltreat the “Abos” in any way whatsoever—if there’s anyone watching.

I don’t want to catch anyone not drinking in their room after lights out.

There is no rule six.
No poofters.
The meeting contains various prayers recited by the Bruces, including: “Oh Lord, we beseech thee. Amen.”, “Australia, Australia, Australia, Australia, we love you. Amen.”, and “This here’s the wattle, the emblem of our land. You can stick it in a bottle or you can hold it in your hand. Amen.”

Very sad. Team leader had made a pragmatic call but better if he/she had been on the side of careful. Remembering the Thai cave tragedy.
and
Remembering the Cave Creek platform tragedy. A viewing platform ‘collapsed into a chasm at Cave Creek in Paparoa National Park on 28 April 1995.’ 14 altogether died. RIP.

Outdoor people do push the envelope at times. With their own lives is one thing but with others, no. I remember a young woman who slithered down a stony slope and over a cliff to her death when undergoing resilience experience on her own in the bush. Once started what could you do? If you had crampons? to hook into ground to stop your slide would seem the only way, if nothing projected up to hold to.
Here is something we don’t want to know about. Yuk.

The country was being run so poorly that it was vital that we ditched the system and took up the wonderful neoliberal free markets giving us wonderful access to the rest of the world which is bigger than us, naturally, and it has chosen to take an interest in us. So welcome the extra people and tsunami of money and new life to stock exchanges. But we have to cut back because we are overwhelmed with all these riches and advantages. We can’t cope with the cornycopia!
