Saferooms in MSD’s $65m security improvements
Nearly 10 years after two Ministry of Social Development (MSD) workers were killed at their office in Ashburton, 1News can reveal that $65 million has been spent on improving the safety of sites.
$65million to build safe rooms for staff to hide in once beneficiaries driven toxic by the cruel social policy go troppo.
How very Nu Zilind of us.
No focus on the policy that drives beneficiaries violent, oh no, just $65million to protect the staff so the cruel policy can continue.
We are not allowed to talk about Russell John Tully.
He is the nameless horror outside the rattling windows whistling gaps from underfunded maintenance.
WINZ and MSD are sociopathic organisations staffed with burn outs who grow to despise the vulnerability and weakness of their ‘clients’.
It is an ocean of petty tyrants who enjoy the power sadistically and take great joy in declining requests while lecturing.
Russell John Tully was a fractured man at the end of that tether and he shot up and murdered WINZ Staff in an act of violence that freaked the entire bureaucratic establishment out because the unspoken deal between the neoliberal welfare agencies and the Government of the day that underfund them, is that they are not held to account for the harvest of bitterness their spite produces.
Paula Bennett who was leading the usual attack on beneficiaries must have thanked her stars that this violence didn;t spark a wider movement against WINZ or MSD offices.
Russell John Tully’s violent defiance threatened to overwhelm the barriers put in place to dehumanise and belittle the poor, and that is why he is made invisible while every single WINZ Office is now staffed and manned by burly security guards who intimidate the moment your shadow darkens the door.
John Russel Tully is a toxic legacy that we can never discuss in case he inspires a tsunami of rage from an ocean of homeless beneficiaries who rise up and cast their terrible vengeance against a cruel bureaucracy protected by the Political elite who underfund them.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

The greatest achievement of neoliberalism, in New Zealand, is the success with which modern versions of slavery have been created and maintained. Most of us are wage slaves, existing merely as a conduit, using our labour to create profit for those who control capital. Benefit slaves are given just enough to survive, again creating profit for the landowners and being controlled by the massive amounts of alcohol, weed and P cheaply available. Finally, Migrant slaves. Check out one of Stuff’s main stories this morning. The problems in this area are caused by deliberate government policy.
You know that all is lost when you live in a country where the prime minister ensures legislation is passed so that no capital gains tax is paid on the sale of property and he then sells a property and pockets hundreds of thousands of dollars profit and pays no tax.
Right on Peter – a slave wage economy indeed, where, like those who worked the cotton fields, workers are fed and housed just enough to be ready for work again the next day, and beaten if they step out of line. And this all managed by a new breed of neo-liberal zealots relishing the power to destroy every last remnant of social initiative left by their predecessors.
