Transport Minister Simeon Brown announces blanket speed limits dropped
Speed limits on many urban and rural roads are set to go back up by 20km/h under new rules unveiled by Transport Minister Simeon Brown.
Brown today said he is getting rid of blanket speed limits introduced by Labour, while also raising the possibility of motorists travelling up to 120km/h on major motorways.
This stupid little child is raising the speed limits around schools FFS!
Simeon is 5 foot nothing but is a fundamentalist Christian, so he reeks with the certainty that the Lord Jesus loves him and this false confidence seems to mean he believes he’s a lot smarter than he actually is.
His drive to weaponise the impatience of Kiwis stuck in gridlock – a gridlock created  thanks to the mass immigration policies of National AND Labour – he is weaponising our collective impatience by lifting speed limits everywhere and pretending that will solve the gridlock his Party’s mass immigration policies are causing!
What is most bewildering by this man child’s god given false confidence is his total incapacity to look at the consequences of this weaponising of our impatience – the fact that any child killed or injured after he has increased speeds around any school is automatically his responsibility!
Let’s be perfectly clear here, if any child is injured or killed after the speed limits are raised, it’s blood on Simeon’s hands and the splatter will drench his National Party mates.
There will be a weekly count from the media of children hurt after the change that will only get bigger and bigger.
National’s inability to comprehend what is coming from Simeon’s idiocy is as concerning as Simeon’s false god given confidence.
Simoen’ Brown’s plan to raise speed limits around schools is surely the worst political suicide note in NZ History!
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Gee the answer to our productivity problem s has been right in front of us all along Urban speeds limits! Why not focus on public transport? Less cars on the road would mean you could move goods around easier, surely. But no this god bothering goose won’t. I bet if you look at the stats, accidents around schools are not heavily impacted by drug and alcohol influence. That’s his supposed answer. Lots of testing. During school hours? Bullshit.
Providing public transport is a no brainer .But as this government does not have a single brain cell between them it will not happen .Clearly they can only count to 3 as that is the magic figure to stop all progress in NZ $3 BILLION .We cant build schools ,hospitals or ferries because they cost $3 billion although there has never been real figures to back those claims .And just by coincidence $3 billion was the tax cuts given to wealthy land lords .And where did that $3 billion come from ?we cut every Maori project possible and borrowed the rest .Look we found another 30 million last week of Maori stuff to slash ,not much left to cut now so we best borrow some more and build a mega prison to hose them so we can scrap all the marae and take those high producing farms and all the other sucesses they have which contribute 20% of GDP .
The whole idea is bullshit…
I was in Australia recently where speeds limits were reduced and the motorway / open road speed limits are 80km ..and strictly enforced.
Also smart / cell phone use is banned..no excuses…$ 1000 fine in Victoria and similar elsewhere
Large volumes of traffic flowed
beautifully and evenly…no surging and braking of cars …no lunatics flicking in and out between 3 lanes…no distracted drivers..it was impressive to be in amongst it and how efficient the whole system works.
Coming into Melbourne from the north you would swear your were sitting in a large wide train so even was the flow.
Same again heading south out of Brisbane.
Consequently the road death toll has been reduced dramatically and transport efficiencies have improved
This god- bothering dweeb, Simeon Brown is clueless,,going against all the latest worldwide studies and research in consutation with the very best Traffic Engineers.
That research advice is the opposite
to what The Coalition of Chaos is about to do.
Australia smart…New Zealand ..dumb!
Simeon has as much life skills as a 3 monyh old embryo. To let him in charge of transport is akin to allowing Hannibal Lector to perform open brain surgery.
Simeon is fucking clueless, if he researched the evidence rather than his colouring in books. he’d leave transport portfolios to the adults.
New Zealand drivers need to drive much better before they start raising the speed limits .
Agree +100% this is going to get messy.
I’m going to try and boycott Simeon’s new law. Hopefully a lot of people will feel the same.
Many of us have more experience of driving, schools, children, and many other things, than this ignorant person. We can make up our own minds.
The bloke is just a egotistical liar.
Bishop and Reti were exposed as well over the Dunedin hospital all bluster but no facts. Willis and Luxon must be shitting $100 notes every time the ferries are mentioned.
But hey people voted for them and still seem to support them.
Shows the power of media, money and shonky polling companies.
Christianity says to love your neighbor and not to kill so there’s nothing Christian in the actions of this current government, there’s a warning about people who kill people thinking that they are serving God which describes the deception the CoC is operating under.
Just another case of ignorance by this idiot .He thinks he is above everyone else because he is a member of the worlds biggest ponzi scheme that is called the church .Then he does not take heed of advice given on the odd occasion he asks for it as he considers that he has all the answers.
What is it about little men and politics?
Take note of the vegetation on roundabouts, the funding for vegetation control and litter removal has been axed so Shovel Ready Simeon can fill his potholes.
Agree +100% this is going to get messy.
The principal or teachers union at every school ought to send a letter to every parent explaining the increased danger to their children attending school and who has endangered their children.
Regardless of what Simeon Brown says or does, our people will be enforcing the existing speed limit around our kura and there is nothing he can do about it.
Auch Well, here we are, all the blame bluster, in, and oot the hoos, and the plebs are marching in their thousands, and too follow Hikoi, on the horizon, as baby face, not only increase road death speeds, but also taxes on their roads of National significance, or should it be their Roads of speed carnage. Speed up productivity, how many times have we as the prolatariat producers of government wealth, heard this continuous verbal corporate trickle down lie.
Eh! only a year in, how our some radical fundamentalists parliamentarian brethren don!t tax Sanitarium, are they water carriers for the mules.
